We have this lady at my work who's memory lasts about five minutes. She thinks her sister is a teenager, and that her parents are alive but still scores high on the trivia and spelling part of the test they do on them to see where their dementia is at. I don't think they take in that fact some people are intelligent and that part of their memory has not been erased yet.
Whoa! I only have to take it once a year now?

Straining to Hear and Fend Off Dementia
February 11, 2013, At a party the other night, a fund-raiser for a literary magazine, I found myself in conversation with a well-known author whose work I greatly admire. I use the term conversation loosely. I couldnt hear a word he said. But worse, the effort I was making to hear was using up so much brain power that I completely forgot the titles of his books.
