1. Describing the Left as socialist is controversial because the Left hates accurate language about their goals.

Socialist policies favor increased central planning of the economy by politicians and by bureaucrats, instead of allowing entrepreneurs, businesses, and customers to make decisions in a free market. Socialists also favor government attempts to collectivize the means of production and to divvy up the national wealth. The reason: because they insist on equality of results, as opposed to the traditional American belief in equality ‘under the law.’

If you’re a secular socialist, you generally have to maintain your power in ways that the public inherently dislikes: paying off supporters by putting earmarks in appropriations bills, writing bills in collusion with lobbyists, making special deals to get enough votes to pass legislation, and appointing really bizarre nominees to top government jobs. Basically, you have to hide what you intend to do, and what your real goals are.

4. And the singular hallmark of the movement that believes it knows better than the American public what is best for them, is the scorn for the values and traditions of the people you intend to change.

Because if you had actually quoted all of Obama's speech, you would see that was what he wanted. He said he wants business people to pay more taxes. He wants extra special taxation for them.


So I will wait for that list of special bridges and roads they had access to while you go get it, okay?

He has been very clear about whom he wants to not extend the Bush-era tax cuts for. Individuals with taxable income over 200,000 dollars and couples with taxable income over 250,000.

Yes. No. No. Mostly because the Bush-era tax cuts should have been recended before President Bush engaged in two wars and we've had to borrow money to pay for both the wars and the tax cuts. Frankly they should have been recended for all. But they should also be required to present a balance budget. When the debit is paid off then we can talk about tax cuts for everyone.
