When I go online now I get a "Remote Procedure Call" error. It doesnt happen when I am not online. It doesnt happen at any certain time either. The computer has to shut down after I get the message. Anyone have any ideas??

RPC errors are generally service related from another application. Have you installed or uninstalled any software prior to these errors happening? also, if you can, past the error message from the event viewer here so I can take a look at it.

One word - Virus!

Specifically the Blaster Worm is one that causes this error to be generated. There are quite a few of other variants that could cause this as well.

While it could be many things that cause this, I'd lean towards a virus or malicious spyware.

Do you still have McAfee? If so, get the latest .dat files and try cleaning your machine. Have you been running AdAware weekly like I suggested? Spybot search and destroy?

Easiest fix? Do what I did, reformat and install your XP again. At least with AOL all your email and address's will be saved. Just backup your data, mp3's and porn!! :)

If you don't have any of the virus products, here's a free one that I hear works pretty well. Just make sure you have it updated to the latest files after installation!!
