WWII Vet gets respect

It was the age of FDR and most enlisted pukes were Democrats.

That's because most of the Enlisted remembers the New Deal and how it fed and clothed them and allowed their parents (Dads mostly) to work.

Now to sound like what some would call "Socialist" but I wouldn't. We need programs like that now. We need to learn from these smart people and show them that we can be proud of by doing what they once did. We can create programs to put people to work instead of doing handouts and this includes unemployment insurance. Let's do it while these people are still around. Maybe another message area should be started but the problem is, the ulta rights and lefts will just trash it.

He really should be careful. Sausage and eggs every day will make you die young. My doc told me that. He died 7 years ago at 51.
Ol dude has seen more than most minds can imagine. My Dad is 92

FDR had a number of work groups, the biggest were the WPA and the PWA. To take just one, the WPA.this is some of what they built: 1000 miles of runways, 651,000 miles of highways:24.000 bridges: 8,000 public parks: 69000 highway light poles:18,000 playgrounds: 125,000 public buildings:41.300 public schools and the biggie TVA. The PWA built about the same number and the Grand Coulee dam.

Was INSANE how fast the country grew during WWII. Militarily, infrastructure, manufacturing.

I remember reading in the late 30s the US was outside the top 20 in military power behind Portugal and something like 50th in aircraft production. Then THE superpower 5 years later. Something like 10 years which US GDP grew by over 8% in a year and 8 of them were under FDR.

I remember camping every year as a kid in the smokies. And seemed everything there was built by the TVA.

And it continued to grow well into the sixties. During the 50s, there were a lot of programs created in the late 40s that the Vets took advantage of and the country continued to grow. Instead of the TVA, PWA and CCC, Industry did it because it had the backing and the work force.

I know a Korean War vet who gets the same thing at his favorite dive. They won't tell him who pays.

A plan for hypocrites. Spit on Vietnam War Vets and buy some scrambled eggs for a WW2 Vet and put yourself in for a media award.
