WWI was an example of 17th 18th and 19th century European tribal warfare. There was no international issue involved as there was during the 2nd war to end all wars. President Wilson said he would never send Americans to fight in a foreign war and then he had a stroke and his wife sent Americans to fight in a foreign war.
