WTF? Im befuddled over this

So you support this just because of who owns the land?
What difference does it make what nationality the people are who own anything?
In China people don't own anything. The government does.

That would be dependent on whither they were American citizens or not.

It depends if you are an idiot or not. Water is bad for you if you drink too much of it.

It still doesnt give them the right to order them to sell their land, still doesnt give them the right to order the computers and documents be turned over to the government for inspection.
I disagree.

What difference does it make if in China people dont own their land...this isn't China
Are you still an American if you go to another country?

It would depend on if they are citizens? WTF?
If they are American citizens, regardless of background, then the communist country has no claim to anything they now own.

Apparently you dont seem to mind a dictatorship when it comes to rights...if you think the President has the right to order the computers and documents be turned over to the government for inspection....without warrant...that violates the 4th Amendment...apparently laws and rights have no meaning to you.
Either that or you're an idiot who thinks that location determines your rights rather than nationality that you come from and subscribe to.

But to demand they sell their land and turn over all of their computers and documents & demand interviews from their employees...just by exec. order....I think not.

He's within the powers granted to the executive branch in doing so.

Obama’s order followed a recommendation from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), an inter-agency group headed up by the Treasury secretary that evaluates the national security risks of foreign investments in U.S. companies or operations.

Ralls Corp initially sued CFIUS in September for ordering the company to halt operations temporarily while the committee completed its probe and made its recommendation to Obama.

Its chances of winning the suit are slim given the president’s broad authority on national security matters and the fact that courts do not often second guess the executive branch on security issues, experts say.

“It’s a very, very difficult case,” said Ivan Schlager, a partner with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, who is in charge of the firm’s CFIUS practice.

“The statute was crafted to give the president a great deal of discretion and authority to act to protect the national security interests of the United States.”

Ralls will have their day in court, but it's a legitimate concern given the level of both corporate and national espionage that China is currently responsible for. The last thing that we need in this country is for a Chinese company to steal drone technology. Can you imagine the ramifications of that for us?

Here's some light reading for you on Chinese technology espionage/theft:

McConnell, Chertoff and Lynn: China's Cyber Thievery Is National Policy—And Must Be Challenged - WSJ.com

Here's a statement from Mike McConnell, Michael Chertoff, and William Lynn that was pubished in the Wall Street Journal:

The Chinese government has a national policy of economic espionage in cyberspace. In fact, the Chinese are the world's most active and persistent practitioners of cyber espionage today.

Evidence of China's economically devastating theft of proprietary technologies and other intellectual property from U.S. companies is growing. Only in October 2011 were details declassified in a report to Congress by the Office of the National Counterintelligence Executive. Each of us has been speaking publicly for years about the ability of cyber terrorists to cripple our critical infrastructure, including financial networks and the power grid. Now this report finally reveals what we couldn't say before: The threat of economic cyber espionage looms even more ominously.

China Corporate Espionage Boom Knocks Wind Out of U.S. Companies - Bloomberg

You're pretty uninformed. Not only do we need to protect our national defense secrets, we need to protect American corporations from Chinese technology espionage. This is a full-time business for the Chinese.

A huge facet of American economic success has been our consistent innovation and development of newer and better products. We cannot compete in global market when the Chinese are easily able to steal the fruits of American labor.

Have you ever read the Constitution? Those rights are guaranteed to anyone and everyone in this country. Location DOES determine your rights.
If YOU go to another country, YOU are NOT protected by our Constitution, you do NOT have freedom of speech afforded to you by our laws, you do not have the 4th amendment protection, you do not have any rights granted to people in this country...you are to abide by the laws of that country.

Damn man, you cant be this ignorant.

The President does NOT have the power to ignore the 4th Amendment. I would even tend to wager you dollars to doughnuts that not even the 2012 Defense act would hold up in court.

The President thinks he has the power to not only make anyone sell their property at his whim and without reason, but he believes he has the power to force interviews with employees and inspect their records and computers?

When did he become dictator Obama?

I know he has absolutely no care for the Constitution or its laws he swore to uphold, but to me this has gone too far.

He does have the Constitutional power because Congress gave it to him decades ago. The law under which this action was taken has been on the books for many, many years and was last used by G.H.W. Bush to deny the Chinese ownership of an American company.

The issue isn't private property rights, but national security and this President, or ANY President, is tasked by Congress to prevent such as this on the recommendation of the Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States. The Committee recommended the President deny that Chinese company the right to build their wind farm in such close proximity to a naval weapons development facility near Boardman, OR and he acted upon that recommendation.

There's nothing illegal or un-Constitutional about it and nothing which indicates he's become a "dictator." He's simply following the law and protecting our vital national interests.

Yet, strangely enough, an order like this has never before been signed by any president.

*shrugs* Opinions vary.

I'm on the fence on this as if you actually want to have a serious discussion, or if you are trolling. So I'll just come right out and ask... Are you worth the time to explain this to? Do you honestly care about the topic?

I read law blogs, and saw this last week. A couple of lawyers that work in the field think that it is unprecedented, and no one has come up with an another order to prove them wrong.

I reall don't know but---

If Ralls is a foreign company(or have suspicious foreign ties to antoher governmnt) do they have the same rights as an American company?

All we know they could be a front for a Chinese espionage ring. Should we let them build so close to our military bases?

The problem was over flight paths, and was declared a non issue by the Navy.

Call me cynical but trusting lawyers isn't one of my strong points.
