The five Sullivan brothers were killed in her sinking, 13 November 1942.

Solomons is a major naval graveyard.....
Juneau was hit first with a torpedo in the 1st Naval Battle of Guadalcanal--a major point blank shoot out --both US R-Admirals killed..
...sometimes the ships were so close they couldn't train the main guns on target!
..it went on into the next day with the BB Hiei being sunk by air
..Juneau was hit by a sub that finished her
..the next evening there was another major engagement
..major air and naval battles at this time...the Japanese beached their transports and the US pounded them

..and Guadalcanal was saved
