Billion. It's used in such a casual manner these days. It's so yesterday; trillion is the number de jour. . . . and it's the unit of measurement that they think about.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend but here's a little perspective:

A billion seconds ago it was 1978.
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age
A billion days ago no one walked on the earth on two feet.

If $15 is figured as the average hourly wage, and $120 as the average daily wage, you can translate that as 4,958,333,333,333. days of work for the average employee to pay that off. FACT:
In the REPUBLIC of Ireland, Employees are taxed through the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system, based on their income (less certain allowances) - the system is quite progressive with little or no tax on low earners and a high rate applied to top earners.
The standard rate of corporation tax is among the lowest in the world at 12.5%.

If you live there you would see what you think of their almost bust economy. Truth is low taxes doesn’t work without jobs.
Now they are talking about a healthy flat tax.

Actually in 2009 we were barely in the top 10, we ranked as 9th behind Luxembourg, Norway, Qatar, Switzerland, Denmark, Netherlands, Untied Arab Emirates For International Monetary funds per capita, so actual numbers are MUCH less.

By the way if you take a loan from a bank to buy a house, then the bank owns the house until you pay it off.

How would we figure cost of living? Better does it even matter? Perhaps in our lack of fear we should take into account that as many people as China with pocket knives could take over the world? They are beginning to industrialize, they finish highschool, and go to collage. Their nation is hungry, and they will build, we could supply, but will we? This is our new competitor, and should not be met with our feet on the desk.
