The Civil Rights Movement...the Republicans NEVER liked what happened there. Notice how they are always wistful and wishing for a time when everything was good. That time has been traced to the 50s. Moreover, right wingers fought the Civil Rights movement tooth and nail and as a result of the movement, have become what is today's Republican party. They have and continue to demonize Brother Minister Malcolm X as a man of violence who got his just deserts, although he only stood up for his rights (by any means necessary) Much like the what today's crop of Tea-Partiers claim to do. However, Martin Luther King, Jr. was violently gunned down by a crazed racist RWer just the same.

It all stems from the Civil Rights Movement...that's what set these people off.
