I was under the impression that it was illegal in japanese film to destroy Kyoto Castle. Well, unless my eyes deceived me, I just watched it happen in the 1967 schlock fest known as "Monster from the Prehistoric Island" as two Gojira monsters (named "Gappa") tore it to spindly bits.
