wow, big diff, right?

use an 18" scout rifle 308, with the needed 3" of flashhideer, with plain based 150 gr sp's, vs a 20" 223 with 1" of flashhider, and the new 77 gr bullet and you'll notice that the 223 has LESS wind drift. :--) So you can't just broadly say that the 308 has less winddrift than 223. It depends upon the barrel and the load. In either case, on a vertical target like a man, if there is much wind at ALL, 1/4 mile shots with EITHER load is "iffy, cause winds can lull ,gust or change direction, once you launch the bullet, that's it. if the wind changes, you still miss, reguardless of 308 or 223 being your choice.

Is the Sierra Tipped Match King the Best Choice for the AR ever?

I know that people who can't think in terms of principles and concepts can't GRASP this, but maybe there's 1-2 exceptions here on this forum

18" bbl and "plain based 150 gr sp's" for the .308.
20" bbl and "the new 77 gr bullet" for the .223.

As long as you continue to slant the comparisons your results are invalid.

Why is it so important to try to show the .223 is "the best" that you continue to make these ridiculous comparisons?

I guess this is better than the ones in which you compare the performance of the .223 with high end ammo to a .308 using ball ammo.

BTW, in a post some time back you talked about the .308 shooters using a 26" barrel (in one of your slanted comparisons), and never answered when I asked about what rifle you were talking about. Any more info?

My old Sierra Bullets Reloading Manual has a whole section on wind deflection effects that tell how to figure deflection for cross, head or tail winds for an assortment of their bullets @ various MVs, BCs and ranges.
Example (assuming 90 degree crosswind):
55 Gr Sp. 157 BC.223 (.224 dia.) @ 3200fps MV and 10 MPH crosswind= 9.72" @ 300 yds... 30.70" @ 500 yds.
180 Gr.Matchking HP .308 (.308 dia) ,270 BC @ 2600fps MV and 10MPH crosswind= 6.412" @ 300yds and 1912 @ 500 yds.

As above except 15 MPH crosswind.
55Gr 223= 14.58" @ 300yds. and 46.05" @ 500yds.

!80 Gr. .308= 9.63" @ 300 and 28.68"@ 500yds
