If you had the option to give an extra 5% of your pay to the Federal Government would you?

No. They already waste my money, spend it in inappropriate ways and allow rampant and unchecked fraud to suck up even more of it. Why reward their out-of-control spending spree when that only encourages them to continue being irresponsible with our money and lead them to believe whatever they want to ram down our throats against our will as they have done -taxpayers must be forced to pick up the tab? If I hear another Democrat insist people should WANT to pay higher taxes as the "patriotic" thing to do, I'll puke. What he really means is he doesn't want to hear any crap from taxpayers about the foolish, stupid, wasteful, overblown, bloated government he helped create but now wants to stick us with the tab. Oh, and insists he deserves to be re-elected too so he can continue enriching himself at the government trough. With taxpayers picking up that tab too!

Almost 2 days into this poll and still only 1 vote for volunteering more money to the federal government.... Liberals where are you?

I guess they must have voted "No" then... Which puzzles me even more...

No. Every extra dollar of tax receipts leads to $1.17 of additional spending.

We are not undertaxed. The government spends too much money.

But, on what?

I would happily give 5% more, if I secured a $5,950,000 grant to study the effect of porn and rum on female students at the University of Southern California.

8 days into this thing and still only 1 Yes vote... I am bumping this to the top to make sure liberals get their vote cast as well...

If the budget was balanced and the spending had been reduced to the point that it was to be balanced by law in the future forever and that extra 5% was gaurenteed under pain of death to all legislators that it would be used exclusively for debt reduction, then, yes, i would approve of that.

If I was simply throwing another 5% at the theives to steal as they do with the rest of it, then, no, I would not.

What makes you ask?

12 days... One yes vote... I guess this proves that liberals only want to volunteer other people's money since none of them are coming forward and admitting that they would give and extra 5%. Big surprise there.

You liberals are a piece of work.

Of course I would volunteer to pay more in taxes as long as I got an ironclad guaranteed balanced budget amendment in return.

This poll and it's results are emblematic of why we have skyrocketing deficits, leaders who have abrogated their sworn duties, and why our nation is a sinking ship.

We control this government and are ultimately responsible for it. And this me first, take no responsibility, attitude is gonna be our undoing.

If you don't like the terms of your social contract organize, rise up and change it like men. Or are you mice unworthy of the gift the founders secured for you?

This is not a question about taxes, it is a question about you. you failed.

Seeing as I give more than 5% of my income to worthy charities, I have no reason to consider giving it to the government.

Sort of dismisses the fallacy that the government needs to collect from the people so that those in need can be taken care of.

The more they TAKE from me for the causes of THIER choice, the less I have to voluntarily GIVE to the worthy causes of MY choice.

um no. it would only be fallacious if everyone gave 5%

rdean, truthmatters, jillian, ravi, where are you guys??????

OK... This poll proves what everyone has thought for years... Liberals expect everyone else to pay for the problems that their beliefs are causing this country but when it comes to them actually doing something other than rioting/protesting, they won't do it... as a human being I would be embarrassed... but then again that's just another difference between liberals and the rest of the world.
