I would not. I wouldn't stop them or admonish them against doing so, but neither would I encourage them to do so. I'm not going into the "whys and wherefores," mainly because I'm not interested in knowing anyone else's. I just want a "yes" or "no," not a "maybe." You figure out whether, based on all you know about this forum and others similar to it, whether your answer is predominantly "yes" or predominantly "no," and answer accordingly.

My older son is 35, so his decisions are his own business. My younger son is 16, and still thinks most of the people in the world are decent, so I wouldn't want to expose him to a place like this filled with those who defend as much Islamist mass murder as do so many posters and some of the staff here.

Yes, because learning how Socialists manipulate the narrative teaches how phony they are!

My kids are in their 40s

They wouldn't listen to me one way of the other

The only thing I question the post is that the use of profanity is not really needed. I would let them if you could use the adult restriction could be used.
The profanity doesn't bother me as go whether my kids are exposed to it. Like so much else, it's just a thing I had to teach them to eschew as much as possible and leave it at that. What else is there I could have done? It's not as though they weren't going to encounter it well before I'd have wanted them to, and I had no control over when that happened. The best I could do was prepare them for it and, as best I could, dissuade them from using profanity.

That said, how you choose to raise your kids and to what you opt to expose them, at "whatever" age, is your choice entirely. In that regard, "you do you." You should not construe the paragraph above as anything other than my sharing how I dealt with that aspect of parenting, for, truly, I have no opinion to share about how you or any other specific individual raises their kids.

How would he feel about someone who continuously creates Straw Men arguments about other posters? Particularly misrepresenting posters who are Pro-Bill of Rights as pro-terrorist?

I would not.

Kids should be reading and studying and doing schoolwork and whatever time they have left over they should be jogging and swimming and playing sports.

Kids should not be boinking or drinking or doing dope or logging into message forums on the Internet.

Both would see past your double taking crap just as I do.

They did not receive their education at a Madrassa, so realize there is nothing in the Bill of Rights that grants the right for an enemy combatant to enter this country for the purpose of killing as many Americans as possible. That may be what YOU want, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the Bill of Rights.

Obama is one of the 2nd Amendment people?

90% of the "political discussion" on USMB is useless partisan noise from the Brand Name party monopolies. It has an expiration date of about a week. There's ZERO lasting value to it -- other than watching the warring tribes engage in a Death Match that's designed to destroy the country.

So no --- I'd buy them subscriptions to the National Review, The Nation and Reason Magazine and encourage them to be fully informed on social/economic ISSUES and POLICY and prepare themselves to LEAD this country after the demise of the dynasty parties, that are about NOTHING but "winning", which will take the national conversion to the Lowest Common Denominator" and close to ruination....

'Warring tribes engaging in a Death Match'. lol.

Some of the expletives, or rather: hand grenades, are, shall we say quite creative at times, wouldn't you think?

I'd bet it's not really more sophisticated than the war-painted primitive tribes of New Guinea -- facing off with elaborate dancing and shouting and waving of spears !!! :lmao: Or the kind of things the Hatfields and McCoys used to shout about each other's families over the border of West Virginia and Kentucky before a raid.. (IIRC)

Wnen you've divorced yourself from allegiance to the 2 brand name parties, everything looks a lot stupider and sinister than if you're in a bunker taking fire..

Actually today I've been reading about the land disputes and petty bickering over parcels of territory, after the fighting with the British ceased.

I've been to the Virginia side of the Potomac Great Falls area, where the Maryland people would, in former times, hurl verbal expletives over the river to the Virginian folk.

Yes, definitely. One needs to understand the motives and ideology of their enemies and places like USMB are very good for that.

No. USMess welcomes and embraces the worst in racism and anti-America and anti-Constitution right wingers.

There are excellent message boards that encourage discussion and debate of all points of view, which I believe would be a better choice.
