Fact 1: in a war people who argue against continuing the effort to a successful conclusion are undermining the effort. Simple truth, no debate about it.

Fact 2: Since the left was OK with commies like Ho Chi Minh, they did not support the war effort and undermined it instead.

A pretty fucked up thing to do to our troops that were fighting over there to advance American foreign policy.

In the end none of that mattered since a Dimnocratic Congress pulled the rug out from udner the South Vietnamese a few years after we pulled out anyway.

During WW2, Ho Chi Minh fought the Japanese, and we saved his life at one point. Had we been able to view them as we viewed China, when Nixon policies opened China up, Vietnam would have ended up Communist in name only, and an ally of the US.

Vietnam was the result of an ill thought out policy toward a people and culture about which we understood little.
