As someone said, Paul is a Libertarian-large L, he's practical though, so he went GOP. He's an isolationist, which is the obstacle that has always kept me from going Libertarian.

Wow, that's pretty damning. On what do you base that? I know a pretty good bit about Ron Paul & my view of him is the exact opposite of yours.

As far as geopolitics goes, he's on the committee for international relations, so there are clearly quite a few folks who think he has a decent understanding of things in that department.

Economics? He's on the Committee on Financial Services and the Joint Economic Committee... these committee appointments aren't something to scoff at. He's been appointed to these by a Republican Party that isn't exactly friendly with him.

I can't help but think you don't know much about him if you think he's ignorant in the realm of geopolitics or economics. As for leadership... his campaign coffers come - not from PACs that can lead him by the nose - but from individuals... to the tune of almost 97%. That alone is a pretty good sign of being a leader. One thing is for sure, if you know anything about Ron Paul, he's certainly NOT a follower.

If you don't like his views on homeland security, I'd imagine that can only come from his opposition to the PATRIOT act... if that's the case, we'll just have to disagree. There hasn't been a single act in my lifetime that so curtailed individual freedoms & strengthened the government as the PATRIOT act has done. Paul was right to vote against it.
