World "shocked" by U.S. execution of Troy Davis

  1. Ballistic evidence,
  2. Tossed out forensic evidence (couldn't be used to convict him, since it was inproperly obtained, but it can be used in the court of public opinion)
  3. Multiple Witness testimony at scene
  4. TWO confession by the murder
  5. More than enough evidence that undisputedly put Davis right there at the scene.
  6. Testimony that Davis pistol whipped a homeless, the same homeless and assault that MacPhail was rushing over to stop!

The evidence was over-welming!

Get some perspective lefties. Nobody seems shocked when China executes people for trivial "crimes" or when muslems stone women to death for adultery and nobody seems shocked when jihadists strap bomb vests to retarded kids and send them to blow up marketplaces and houses of worship. Davis was convicted and his case was appealed and reviewed all the way up to the supreme court. Let it go.

Interestingly enough, 7 of the 9 witnesses at his trial recanted their decision because they felt there was something wrong.
Yet they testified in COURT under threat of perjury charges against it! Maybe they were pressured by political activist or blacks reminding them to protect their race and the white man is the enemy!

The ballistics didn't match up, and, there were several witnesses who stated they had been coerced by the police.
Only to people who don't want to believe it!

No. Mr. Troy Anthony Davis should not have been executed. Heresay evidence isn't good enough to put someone to death.
It was confession by the murderer, much different and the basis for the defense was UNDER OATH testimony and ballistic evidence (not too mention the tossed out forensic evidence)!

Ann Coulter Is No Longer Allowed To Call Herself ‘Pro-Life’, And If She Does She’s Lying | Addicting Info

Ann Coulter is known for her outrageous statements. She’s a strong anti-choice activist, and is known to call liberals and other members of the pro-choice movement “baby-killers.” Ann refers to herself as pro-life, but after comments she posted on Twitter last night it is clear that she is not actually “pro-life”, she just opposes a woman’s right to choose. It is also clear that she just uses the “pro-life” moniker to make herself sound compassionate. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Yesterday a man name Troy Davis was executed in the state of Georgia. He was executed for the murder of a cop, which happened over 20 years ago. 9 witnesses testified against Troy Davis and before his conviction 7 came forward to say that they had been pressured to testify against him by police, and that they had lied under oath. Jurors in the case said that if they knew then what they know now they would never have convicted him. Jimmy Carterz and even the Pope called to stop the execution, showing a concern for the man’s life, but not Ann Coulter. While people around the world were trying to stop a potentially innocent man from being executed for a crime he didn’t commit, Ann Coulter took to Twitter to show us once again why she is despised by so many on the left.

The following are screenshots of Tweets posted by Ann Coulter last night. They show a clear lack of concern for human life, and it almost seems as if the thought of another human being’s death excites her.

"One Troy Davis flame-broiled, please."

Blather.

"Pro-life" means pro INNOCENT life.

Being supportive of capital punishment therefore does not address that issue, since those on the receiving end of a death penalty have been proved guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The dolt who penned the blog wished to include all life...guilty of murder or innocent...therefore I'd like to suggest that said individual rail against the current administration which sentenced some 2000 individual, guilty of nothing more than purchasing an automobile....

"What would you say, though, if I told you that this “good thing” that the government is forcing on us in the name of “saving the environment” is responsible for no less than 2,000 deaths per year?

Back in 2002, the National Academy of Sciences did a study on the effects of CAFE. They found that over the three decades CAFE has been in effect, downsizing of cars and trucks for fuel economy has cost us about 2,000 lives per year.

Less steel framing and smaller size equals more miles per gallon. It also means you’re rolling down the road in a vehicle with much less crashworthiness, making you more vulnerable to every stationary object, to that semi behind you … and to the guy in the normal-sized car.

This death toll figure was arrived at long before President Obama recently upped the CAFE standards by 30% and more. The death toll going forward will be even higher."Pajamas Media » The Hidden Death Toll of Higher CAFE Standards

"Hearsay evidence"? What are you talking referring to?

If you are referring to uncorroborated eyewitness testimony, that is not hearsay evidence. I get this a lot from my clients and their families. Many people seem to think that if A says B started the fight, B denies it and says it was A that started the fight, and there are no eyewitnesses to the event, what A has to offer is "hearsay evidence," since it is simply his word against the word of B. This is not hearsay evidence.

Hearsay evidence is defined as in court testimony of an out of court statement made by one other than the testifying witness, which is offered for the truth of the matter asserted. Smith is on the stand. He says: "Jones told me the defendant was at the scene of the crime." Hearsay evidence. There are at least 14 exceptions to the hearsay evidence rule, and many times what appears to be hearsay evidence really is not because, while it is one witness testifying to what another person said, it is not being offered for the truth of the matter asserted.

And that is just skimming the surface. The Hearsay Evidence Rule is quite complicated, full of exceptions, and often misunderstood - even by lawyers and judges.

Not blather at all. A life is a life. Who are you (or anyone else) to judge who is "innocent" and who is not?

People attach labels to things to suit their purpose. Anti abortion folks choose to define a "life" as something that starts at the time of conception. You and other death penalty proponents choose to characterize a convicted murder as not being "innocent," thereby rationalizing the state's murdering him or her.

It seems to me THAT is "blather," as you like to call it.

Nothing new. My value system has always favored preserving the life of the innocent and it is fully capable of supporting "picking" who is or is not guilty of heinous criminal behavior. They call it the justice system.

What value system do you ascribe to that denies you the ability to decide that some people might have earned the ultimate punishment but allows you to determine that matter for everyone else?

Oh, pure blather all right.

And your follow up question is even worse blather, especially coming from a lawyer.

Who do you imagine I need to be to decide guilt or innocence? We do that all the time.

As you know, the justice system has already decided that a condemned prisoner is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Your choice of the word "murder" to describe a legal execution is highly disingenuous of you, too, Geoorgie, since YOU certainly know that a legal execution is not "murder" by definition.

What you posted is certainly blather.

Also, you read in a very selective fashion. I am still not a big advocate for capital punishment. If it were decided tomorrow that it was no longer a tool in the arsenal of the justice system, I wouldn't lose a second's worth of sleep over it. Even so, I do believe that there are instances where it might be a suitable (and perhaps the only useful) sanction.

It's ok that you disagree. But your disagreement is just that. Your disagreement. Nothing more.

The distinction between the helpless and utterly innocent life of a preborn child and the non-innocent life of a murderer who got a fair trial and who was proved to be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt are simply NOT validly comparable. Your efforts are silly.

Ann Coulter - September 21, 2011 - COP-KILLER IS MEDIA'S LATEST BABY SEAL

For decades, liberals tried persuading Americans to abolish the death penalty, using their usual argument: hysterical sobbing.

Only when the media began lying about innocent people being executed did support for the death penalty begin to waver, falling from 80 percent to about 60 percent in a little more than a decade. (Silver lining: That's still more Americans than believe in man-made global warming.)

Fifty-nine percent of Americans now believe that an innocent man has been executed in the last five years. There is more credible evidence that space aliens have walked among us than that an innocent person has been executed in this country in the past 60 years, much less the past five years.

But unless members of the public are going to personally review trial transcripts in every death penalty case, they have no way of knowing the truth. The media certainly won't tell them.

It's nearly impossible to receive a death sentence these days -- unless you do something completely crazy like shoot a cop in full view of dozens of witnesses in a Burger King parking lot, only a few hours after shooting at a passing car while exiting a party.

That's what Troy Davis did in August 1989. Davis is the media's current baby seal of death row

I'm not a big fan of the death penalty though I have no moral problem with it and clearly there is no constitutional problem with it. However it's very expensive and should only be used in rare cases IMHO.

Also IMHO, both dumbshit cop killer and racists asshole from the OP qualify among those deserving death.

this EU boutique 'shock' apparently on display in the trendy salons of the 'world' always pings my irony meter.

there was the 'shock' and huge before and after execution outpouring of support and calls for clemency too for Stanley 'Tookie' Williams III , he was allegedly guilty of murdering 4 people on a robbery spree.

there was the 'shock' and huge before execution ( vacated for now ) outpouring of support and calls for clemency too for Mumia Abu-Jamal (born Wesley Cook), who 'allegedly' killed a police officer in 1981. (he has a boulevard named after him in Paris, at the behest of the French Prime ministers wife etc.)

there was zero shock it appears over the execution of Lawrence Brewer ( he was executed within hours of Davis). He was found complicit in the murder of a black man in east Texas, he was in the vehicle that dragged James Byrd Jr. to his death).

World shocked by U.S. execution of Troy Davis
By Peter Wilkinson, CNN
September 22, 2011 -- Updated 1811 GMT (0211 HKT)

London (CNN) -- Troy Davis may be dead, but his execution Thursday in the American state of Georgia has made him the poster boy for the global movement to end the death penalty.

World figures, including Pope Benedict XVI and former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, human groups and commentators urged the execution to be halted -- but to no avail. On Wednesday Davis was put to death by lethal injection for the 1989 killing of off-duty police officer Mark MacPhail despite doubts being raised over the conviction.

The execution sparked angry reactions and protests in European capitals -- as well as outrage on social media. "We strongly deplore that the numerous appeals for clemency were not heeded," the French foreign ministry said.

"There are still serious doubts about his guilt," said Germany's junior minister for human rights Markus Loening. "An execution is irreversible -- a judicial error can never be repaired."

Mother of slain cop reacts to execution

The European Union expressed "deep regret" over the execution and repeated its call for a universal moratorium on capital punishment.

EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said the bloc had learnt "with deep regret that Mr Troy Davis was executed," her spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic told Agence-France Presse.

'"The EU opposes the use of capital punishment in all circumstances and calls for a universal moratorium," she said.

"The abolition of that penalty is essential to protect human dignity."

Amnesty International condemned the execution in a statement. "The U.S. justice system was shaken to its core as Georgia executed a person who may well be innocent. Killing a man under this enormous cloud of doubt is horrific and amounts to a catastrophic failure of the justice system," Amnesty said.

In Britain's Guardian newspaper, Ed Jackson, reporting from Jackson, Georgia, before the execution took place, gave 10 reasons why he believed the death sentence for "a man who is very possibly innocent" should be commuted.

Most of his argument concerned doubts about the conviction -- seven of the nine key witnesses to the murder of MacPhail later recanted their evidence -- but his final reason concerned the manner in which Davis was put to death.
Davis case to become global 'scandal'
Davis maintains innocence to end

"Even if you set aside the issue of Davis's innocence or guilt, the manner of his execution tonight is cruel and unnatural," Jackson wrote. "If the execution goes ahead as expected, it would be the fourth scheduled execution date for this prisoner. In 2008 he was given a stay just 90 minutes before he was set to die. Experts in death row say such multiple experiences with imminent death is tantamount to torture."

So, to you, a group of cells that doesn't even have a nervous system yet is more "innocent" than someone whose trial has serious questions? Got news for you......7 of the 9 witnesses recanted, most of them told of being intimidated by the cops to push for the conviction. Oh yeah.......the ballistics evidence didn't match up.

How do you know that mass of cells won't grow up to be the next Hitler?

That "group of cells" certainly never committed murder, ABS.

So, yes. OBVIOUSLY the preborn baby is innocent.

There is no serious issue about the guilt of the now late Troy Davis, either.
