It seems like this tournament isnt very big in America as it is played at the same time as the stanley cup.The NHL and Stanley cup should end one month earlier as the european leagues do. In late april, so all players can be available to this tournament.

June is a month for soccer championships in europe and rest of the world so it will not be good for icehockey to compete with the biggest sport in the world. May is a perfect month for a world cup as all the leagues end in late april except for NHL. NHL could start one month earlier in september instead of october and end the season by late april.

I don't think the NHL cares enough nor do Americans care enough for the event to move the Stanley Cup. The Stanley Cup is the premier event.
