Our culture now revolves around victims, and it long past time that the GOP exploited the favorite technique of the left. It is time to call hard working Americans an "endangered species."

"Tyler Durden" at Zerohedge has been writing about the crossover point at which income one might as well just take a permanent vacation and just collect benefits instead of rolling out of bed every morning and enduring wage slavery, as the left used to call it.

For decades, there has been talk of establishing a "guaranteed income" for all Americans. It would seem unnecessary now. Many of the arguments against the guaranteed income have already come to pass; that giving people something for nothing has the potential to turn them into leeches and making chumps of anyone who struggles while working for a living.

And the problem will only become worse as middle class entitlements, of which Obamacare is the showpiece, will make working even less advantageous. It looks like about half of us will continue to work no matter how many goodies the government dangles in front of us. That won't last long. People resent being made chumps of almost as much as many resent others mooching off the sweat off their brow. Eventually, more and more of us will simply give in to the inevitable and allow government to take care of us.

How did it work in Russia:

The primary features of War Communism were:
Uncontrolled inflationary printing press finance, ultimately leading to hyperinflation and nationwide reversion to barter
Near universal nationalization of manufacturing; widespread nationalization of retailing
Stringent price controls upon and forced requisitioning of agricultural products; state monopoly on grain purchases
Forced labor for civilians as well as the military
The package fit together quite logically. The tax system had broken down, so the Bolsheviks just turned on the Czar's printing pressing to fund their activities. At the same time, the prices of most goods were fixed, so as the money supply increased without limit, the legal prices became less and less realistic. Rationing cards replaced rubles as the means of acquiring goods. But if money no longer bought goods, then what was the point of working? Hence, the imposition of compulsory labor.

The Bolsheviks' forced labor policies gave new life to the concept of irony. The men who had proclaimed themselves liberators of the workers and denounced the exploitation of labor suddenly discovered the joys of serfdom. Trotsky stood at the theoretical vanguard of the literal proponents of slavery: "It is said that compulsory labor is unproductive. This means that the whole socialist economy is doomed to be scrapped, because there is no other way of attaining socialism except through the command allocation of the entire labor force by the economic center, the allocation of that force in accord with the needs of a nationwide economic plan." Initially the forced labor laws were applied to the (ex-)middle classes, but their application rapidly broadened to include not only workers and peasants but even minors.

There isn't any difference between Soviet ration cards and EBT cards except for the name. The end result of work being for suckers is forced labor camps. Why ever do you think this regime has increased food benefits to its largest number ever and is expanding the criteria to get even more people using EBT. Communism wasn't imposed on the people, they DEMANDED it. They had a revolution to get it. They thought it meant that everything would be free. What it meant was forced labor with whatever ration the government thought they should get.

So quit your job. Start living the good life that the unemployed and poor seem to enjoy so much.

Yes quit your job if you think it is so easy. A relative of mine after working hard all her life, became disabled due to various ailments, it took 18 months to get approved for disability and she now gets just over $1000 dollars a month, I'd like to know how people think you can live high on the hog on that pittance. Most of us would cry if our income dropped to a thousand a month.

If a person made a series of bad choices in their life we should not reward them with free health insurance/health care or a free income.

One third of all the uninsured Americans the bleeding hearts cry over are high school dropouts. Giving them free health insurance is not the answer to the cause of their being uninsured. Getting people to stay in school and teaching them to carry their own weight is the proper solution. Teach them there are negative consequences to being a slacker fuck-up, not rewards.

Conversely, if a corporation takes advantage of its employees to the point that the government dole is on par with their pathetic wages, then the solution to that problem is to demand higher wages.

If you are being paid low wages, though, you are probably in a low skilled job. And if you are in a low skilled job, there is a good chance your life decisions brought you there. Did you make fun of the "nerd" back in school who was into books and studying and science? Who is laughing now?

We better get busy educating our workforce and our children for the jobs of tomorrow, or this is going to get a lot worse at a faster and faster pace.

Doing piecework is for Third World laborers, not Americans. Let those jobs go overseas where they belong. We need to be in nanotechnology, bioengineering, and all of the higher sciences and manufacturing fields.

Our innovative edge is rapidly disappearing.
