When you think of violators of women's rights, what nations come to mind? Maybe Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Iran, Pakistan, Nigeria or Afghanistan? Not so, according to the United Nations. The world body just passed a resolution condemning Israel for violating the rights of Arab women. Meanwhile, Arab women in other countries are being stoned to death for adultery, witchcraft or blasphemy.

Whilst singling out Israel as a "violator" of women's rights is, to any halfwit, bloody ridiculous. I believe that it shows the international communities frustration with Israel...

Yes there are countries, including Muslim countries, that carry out far worse "violations" against women. These "violations", although I do not agree with ANY "violation" against man or woman, are carried out, generally speaking within the law of the country. We don't have to agree with the laws of a specific country, it also does not make those laws right for humanity but, unfortunately they do exist.

HOWEVER....

Using the word "violation" is rather antagonistic...

The vote that took place was based upon a document that was adopted by the UN 20 years ago on action required to achieve equality for women.

The resolution stressed the quest for equality and reaffirmed “that the Israeli occupation remains the major obstacle for Palestinian women with regard to their advancement, self-reliance and integration in the development of their society.” It called on the international community to continue providing urgently needed assistance and services “to alleviate the dire humanitarian crisis being faced by Palestinian women and their families.”

It was not about Israel being bad, every country struggles in some way with the treatment and image of women, but that countries far worse were not even mentioned in the same breath.
Women have rights in Israel. Women are struggling for basic rights in Iran and the PA with great difficulty and prejudice. They are beginning to making head way but men have put up every type of block against them obtaining those rights. The only rights they have there is obey or die.

It just flew right over your head. All you saw was Israel women's right violations. No wonder you don't understand.

Not entirely sure why you are trying to 'attack' me for supporting the view of the OP?

What flew over YOUR head is the fact that the international community used this vote as a 'shot across the bow' of Israel that things need to start changing within the government in relation to occupation, settlements and the whole Palestinian question...

You see it really was about Israel being bad... The actual vote was not just about the equality of women...

But I guess you missed that bit being a brainwashed zionist... It's ok, everyone is used to that on this board!

My first impression was that the UN vote (co-sponsored by the "Palestinian" welfare fraudsters) was a laughable circus. And of course it was.

In light of the Al-Islamist Terrorist Network article below, it seems that the "Palestinian" terrorists don't at all mind being the subject of ridicule and derision.

What is not at all disturbing because it comes from just another Islamic hell hole is that "honor" killings seems to define the status of women in so much of the Islamic Middle East. In the putrid backwater of Gaza'istan, one of many lands annexed by seventh century Arab polytheism, (a god and a partner named ”muhammed” swish), a women can be “offed” for the unpardonable sin of refusing to be tagged and bagged.

What a shame that Islamism is so utterly retrograde in its bias against women. Can't you just picture the righteous, macho Islamo high-five when teenage girls are murdered to protect some family "honor".

It's funny how the zionists have missed the point entirely!

The vote 27-2, with 13 abstentions, really, I am sorry to say, have very little to do with the equality of women...

The two to vote against, of course, Israel and the USA. The abstentions? Europe!

Thats a pretty powerful message in anyones language!

The resolution stressed the quest for equality and reaffirmed “that the Israeli occupation remains the major obstacle for Palestinian women with regard to their advancement, self-reliance and integration in the development of their society.”

Actually, in your haste to promote your Jooooooo hatreds, you missed the profound cynicism of a retrograde politico-religious ideology that treats its women little better than cattle bleating on about women's rights.

Islamism is an ideological cesspool that has never been able to claw its way out of the 7th century.

Wrong again as it shows the depth of anti Semitism and racist Jew hatred still prevalent today. If you bother to look at the facts you will see that the majority of resolutions against Israel are coming from islamonazi sources in the belief that they are helping the Palestinians and re-claiming what was muslim lands under Dar al Islam / Dar al harb

Which counts for very little in these parts Phoney!

The message is very clear to those who can think and see clearly!

It's difficult to tell if your habitually befuddled, naive, or both.

To suggest that Israel is responsible for the restrictions on women's rights in the Islamic backwater of Gaza'istan is ridiculous. To make that claim, you would need to identify how Israel is responsible for similar human rights abuses: "honor" killings, putting women in sacks, FGM, reduced legal status, etc., that afflict most every location where Islamism gains strength of numbers.

Your contention is a laughable joke.

I read the link. A UN debate on women's rights co-sponsored by the retrograde throwbacks of an Islamist terrorist organization is hardly worth serious consideration.

A politico-religious ideology that forces women into shame-sacks should be rejected as corrupt and not fit for the modern world. Those terms precisely describe Islamic ideology.

That's not the point at all. Your insensate Jooooooo hatreds don't allow you to reach rational or considered conclusions.

The point of that farcical UN absurdity can be no better demonstrated than by Islamic terrorists forcing women into Fem-Tents who rattle on about Israel being the cause of their hatreds for women. Revulsion for women is commonplace across the Islamic world. The root cause of that hatred derives from the rantings of a 7th century Arab warlord who invented the hateful ideology that causes such harm to women.

I see it that a 27-2 vote with Europe abstaining a slap in the face for Netanyahu and his cronies...

Highlighting the plight of womens rights based upon the Israeli occupation...

The plight of women's rights

Does that come with a jingle?

Why not explain to us how Israel is responsible for the ill treatment of women across the Islamic Middle East?

Are you suggesting that women in the KSA, Egypt, etc., are forced to wear Shame Sacks because of Israel?

In your haste to project your Jooooooo hatreds, you failed to acknowledge that your pointless argument was indefensible.

WHOOOSH...

Went right over your head again didn't it!

Look beyond your brainwashed zionist ideology and see exactly what happened here!

A UN vote that is a real slap in the face for the Israeli government for the continued occupation and illegal settlements....

THAT'S the point here!

You see it your way, that's fine...

I see it that a 27-2 vote with Europe abstaining a slap in the face for Netanyahu and his cronies...

Highlighting the plight of womens rights based upon the Israeli occupation...

But then, you would rather not go down that road, all becomes a little shaky ground for you zionists doesn't it!

Really, Bunky. Your attempt at argument is laughable.

You can't argue with facts Hollie....

I didn't write the report, I didn't arrange the vote...

Take your zionist blinkers off and read what has been written and, I hasten to add, NOT written by me!

You presented no facts. You were drooling over a "Palestinian" Arab Islamist audience at the UN where they presented a fallacious claim that Israel was responsible for "Palestinian" Arab mistreatment of women.

Women are your fields: go, then, into your fields whence you please. Koran 2:223

Women shall with justice have rights similar to those exercised against them, although men have a status above women. Koran 2:228

Men have authority over women because God has made one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and forsake them in beds apart and beat them. Then if they obey you, take no further action against them. Surely God is high, supreme. —Koran 4:34

You may wish to review the admonitions from the hate and war manual that was inflicted upon humanity back in the 7th century.

The point is not that Israel is not doing enough or that there any forms of abuse in Israel but that every other country was not singled out for far more blatant and cruel abuses or women and their rights.
Israel recognizes women's rights, others do not.

That is the point.

No country is perfect but Israel is the target of some of the most petty and insignificant things, how ever wrong or insufficient by comparison, while the rest of the world is ignored.

If human rights are such an issue, start with the pacific and work your way west ward and through africa first
