Recent debate over contraception comes as GOP loses gains among women - The Washington Post
The fragile gains Republicans had been making among female voters have been erased, a shift that has coincided with what has become a national shouting match over reproductive issues, potentially handing President Obama and the Democrats an enormous advantage this fall.
Only, it's not over reproductive issues, so those women probably would be better off among their own.

Between Rush and Santorum, it comes as a surprise to me that any woman would stay with the GOP.

LOL, what a joke..

women know they can get contraceptives and even their precious abortions..

this article is a joke.. but it's evident the Washington compost thinks women are STUPID

The Dem's have saved A LOT of campaign $ first w/ the repub candidates savaging each other (until possibly June) & now the (oxy)Rush fiasco just adds icing to the cake :)

Let's see why this one is: She won't consider Santorum because he doesn't represent her views. She doesn't listen to Rush and doesn't care what some radio jock says. She cannot stand the fact that this current POTUS is waging war on the Constitution. And, she knows that abortion, contraception, etc. are wedge issues with no meaning, and that the First Amendment must not be allowed to be blasphemed by this POTUS.

It's not JUST contraceptives and abortions:

Stop the War on Women

Top 10 Shocking Attacks from the GOP's War on Women

1) Republicans not only want to reduce women's access to abortion care, they're actually trying to redefine rape. After a major backlash, they promised to stop. But they haven't yet. Shocker.

2) A state legislator in Georgia wants to change the legal term for victims of rape, stalking, and domestic violence to "accuser." But victims of other less gendered crimes, like burglary, would remain "victims."

3) In South Dakota, Republicans proposed a bill that could make it legal to murder a doctor who provides abortion care. (Yep, for real.)

4) Republicans want to cut nearly a billion dollars of food and other aid to low-income pregnant women, mothers, babies, and kids.

5) In Congress, Republicans have a bill that would let hospitals allow a woman to die rather than perform an abortion necessary to save her life.

6) Maryland Republicans ended all county money for a low-income kids' preschool program. Why? No need, they said. Women should really be home with the kids, not out working.

7) And at the federal level, Republicans want to cut that same program, Head Start, by $1 billion. That means over 200,000 kids could lose their spots in preschool.

8) Two-thirds of the elderly poor are women, and Republicans are taking aim at them too. A spending bill would cut funding for employment services, meals, and housing for senior citizens.

9) Congress just voted for a Republican amendment to cut all federal funding from Planned Parenthood health centers, one of the most trusted providers of basic health care and family planning in our country.

10) And if that wasn't enough, Republicans are pushing to eliminate all funds for the only federal family planning program. (For humans. But Republican Dan Burton has a bill to provide contraception for wild horses. You can't make this stuff up).

There is no war on women - fearmongering propaganda for idiots.

There IS a war on the Constitution.

The only war being waged on women is from the left..

They have also declared WAR on UNBORN CHILDREN

No they haven't.

Abortion is a wedge issue. It is there and it will remain there. Neither a POTUS nor a Congress can change that. We are a nation of common laws and the precedent cannot be undone.

There is no war on women and there is no war on unborn children.

So you think what rush said has any bearing over a failed obama economy? Women aren't that stupid.

The GOP is getting WAY WAY too aggressive in legislation which affects women more than men. I could be tempted to cross lines because of it. I see it potentially causing us losses in Congress. And much of the red which swept across the nation's statehouses in 2010 could be reversed because of it.

But for me Obama's attack on the Constitution is still of greater concern.

The GOP's legislative attempts can be fought back with other legislation and at the ballot box.

When the Constitution is gutted, we have no recourse.

if the election were held this month this would be important but since it's not till November not so much.

The exit polls will reveal the extent to which the GOP's unofficial spokesman has alienated potential female Repub voters. I tend to believe that they won't forget it come November.

You have touched on the real issue, bigreb. This is all a smoke screen to get the eyes off the ball. Make it about republicans and not deal with how obama has failed. Make no mistake about that.
