Woman wins lottery...still gets Food Stamps

She is a prime example of the mindset of poverty. If she had won a 50 million dollar lottery she would still be getting food stamps because she would still be poor.

Actually, she is the prime example of the mindset of the wealthy. They take everything they can get without even pausing to think about whether they should be receiving it or not. They seek and indeed work hard to create and maintain loopholes to ensure that they do not pay their fair share.

You seem not to understand the concept of "rich" and "poor". I do agree with your assertion, though. Even people who have 50 million dollars would accept food stamps if they thought they could get away with it. We have a guy running for President who takes in hundreds of millions and doesn't think he should have to pay as high a tax rate as the middle class that expects to vote for him. That's the real crime in this country - the entitlement mindset of the wealthy.

She got $500K, which is more than enough to keep the average person afloat and this women should be ashamed of herself for doing what she did.

What she should have done.
(1) She lives in MI. Property is so depressed in MI that she could purchase a nice home in a nice neighbor for $100K. Now she has $400K. then furnish it modestly and buy a car, say $50K down.
(2) Now she had $350K. Start three accounts for safety, say they average out to 4% = $12K a year in income.
(3) Get a job in an industry where she could gear and education plan. Say becoming a legal secretary at $24K a year.
(4) Go to evening college or take it online. Get a degree in the field she might look to get into, such paralegal. College expense - $50K, down to $300K. In a few years she might get to $50K a year.

Summary:
(1) Home owned free and clear in a good neighborhood
(2) Own a nice car free and clear
(3) $300K in the bank earning $10-$12K in interests a year
(4) A college education
(5) A job
(6) Self-Sufficency - no welfare and no food stamps,

And people wonder why we are going broke as a country? A handful of good, hard working Americans pay all the bills for the super rich and those who are 'poor'. Go get a job, moochers... and to the rich... start paying your taxes, cheep asses.
