Police say the woman, who lives in Phoenix, was returning home when the man grabbed her and repeatedly tried to force his way into her home, AZ Central reported.

Police say they do not believe the woman knew the man and that he was most likely trying to rob her.

The woman managed to escape the man’s grasp as she shut the door behind her. She immediately grabbed a gun inside her home and shot him after he managed to force his way into her home.

After being shot the man fled to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The woman was reportedly unharmed from the incident.

Police are purportedly investigating the incident as a homicide but have not filed any charges against the woman.
