SC woman jailed for having messy yard gets hand | CharlotteObserver.com & The Charlotte Observer Newspaper

This has to be among the worst examples of big government gone insanse I've ever seen. A woman was sentenced to 10 days in JAIL because her neighbors felt her yard was too messy. Seriously.

Mount Pleasant, SC (Charleston suburb) police sent a "team of officers" to her job and arrested her.

I'm at a loss for words. In the USA, we are throwing someone in JAIL because neighbors thought her yard was too messy. Her "crime"? She got hit by the economy, and couldn't afford to finish her roofing job, so shingles were left. So she collected scrap metal, and stored it at her home until scrapping it for money. She was broke. But the neighbors didn't like it because they....well, just didn't like it. On her PRIVATE property.

So, the men in black with guns JAILED her. For 10 days. (served 6).

Mount Pleasant, SC, SHAME on you.

If that doesn't sum up the direction our country is headed and/or scare you, well, nothing will. Armed men jail a broke woman because she can't afford to finish her roof.

BUT IT GETS WORSE..........the same week, across the river from Mt P, the City of Charleston: Downtown homeowner told to demolish house - Live5News.com | Charleston, SC | News, Weather, Sports

An arsonist burns down a mans home. The city threatens to fine him $1,000 if he doesn't immediately have the charred home demolished. WHAT if he can't afford it? He'll go to jail. WTF? The city wants the "ugly" home removed now that it's burnt. And threatens the man with fine/jail if he doesn't pay to have it demolished, whether he has the money to do so or not. Pre-fire the house wasn't a problem. Now, it is.

WTF is happening in America?

Wow... This is the kind of Government Conservatives want.... No fed, just state and local right? This ought to be a Conservative wet dream.

Really, they should have let the burned hulk remain there?

As far as the messy yard goes, how messy was it? Were a few thing scattered about, or did it look like a dump. Cities will tolerate messy, they won't tolerate health hazard.

James Corbett explains it perfectly...

Nope, she was jailed for refusing for a year to pay a fine after she received a summons. Big government is when you get hauled into jail for refusing to buy health insurance, and that one is coming.

She was re-shingling her roof last year, and lost her job, went broke. Couldn't afford the refinishing shingle job. So some shingles were left on the roof. She collects scrap metal for extra cash to avoid foreclosure. So she leaves it in the driveway the night before. There was absolutely NO health or safety hazard. Basically a beautification complaint by her neighbors.

Oh, and for the political spin..............Charleston County was the ONLY county in SC that went Obama in 2008, and has been ruled for over 30 years by DEMOCRAT Joe Riley, who just endorsed Obama 2012.

The conservative parts of SC (basically, everywhere but Charleston) would never tolerate this shit.

And yeah, let he burned hulk remain if he can't afford to move it. Whats the other option? OH YEAH, jail.

The Police State is not some far off imaginary possibility. It's actually very real and it's already here.

Bottom line: We've gone from the founders and George Washington..............to jailing people because their neighbor didn't like how their yard looked.

Let that marinate in your mind for a bit.

Our TSA molesting Grandmas and now imprisoning an elderly woman over her lawn? Yeah sure, nothing's wrong in our Country. Everything's just great. Big Brother is always right. He knows what's best for us.

This was done by LOCAL GOVERNMENT in a CONSERVATIVE STATE.

A.K.A. a Conservatopian dream scenario.

Obviously they weren't Conservative. And they may or may not have been Republicans. Doesn't matter though. It was very wrong.
