Woman Cop Killed

BALTIMORE, Maryland (AP) -- A suspect in the slaying of a Baltimore police officer killed himself in a motel room early Wednesday, four days after the officer was shot at a liquor store, the city police commissioner said.

Charles Bennett, who was wanted in the death of Officer Brian Winder, shot himself in the head just before 4 a.m. as police closed in on him at the Relax Inn.

Description of officer impersonator released 7/7/2004

A composite has been released of a man who dressed as a law enforcement officer and allegedly pulled over a 16-year-old girl and inappropriately touched her.

The suspect was driving an unmarked car with a lightstrip on it, and Alachua County Sheriff's Office spokesman, Jim Troiano, says the car and the man's dress were not characteristic of a real law officer. The suspect is described as a 20- to 30-year-old black male, who is six feet tall with a muscular build. Troiano says the man has several distinguishing features including a burst blood vessel in his eye, a scar on his face and a burn on his hand. If a motorist suspects they are being pulled over by an impersonator, they should immediately call 911 from their car.
