Woman, 65, shoots at would-be jewelry store robbers in Garden Grove

Prudence trumps knee-jerk and is the better part of valor.

In a perfect world, people would be responsible and we could rely on them to take care of themselves and not shoot others, so welfare and gun control would not be necessary.
Do yo live in a perfect world?

A couple of things.....first we dont live in a perfect world.
Second people have a right to protect themselves...all these massacres happen in gun free zones....hmmmmmm
And criminals do not follow the law, hence gun control is a waste of time

PEOPLE ASK WHY?
Why Carry a Gun?

My old grandpa said to me 'Son, there comes a time in every man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and
Usually it's when he becomes too old to take an ass whoopin.'

I don't carry a gun to kill people.
I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I don't carry a gun to scare people.
I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.

I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid.
I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil.
I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government.
I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry.
I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.
I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy.
I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man.
I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate.
I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.

I don't carry a gun because I love it.
I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

Police protection is an oxymoron.
Free citizens must protect themselves.
Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin'.....author unknown (but obviously brilliant)

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'.

During WW II the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

If you value your freedom, please spread this anti gun-control message to all of your friends.

As long as she legally owned the gun and used it to defend herself and her property from would-be robbers, I have no problem with this woman firing her gun. I don't know of any gun control advocates who would feel otherwise.

I do

All told, HR2038 is a giant step closer to the goal stated by the assault-weapons ban sponsor, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., on CBS "60 Minutes": "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them -- Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in -- I would have done it."

2nd Amendment / Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in - SFGate

When my .357 rounds are going right through trees, I know what would happen just hitting a body, or should I say first body.

Firing off in a crowd like that is attempted murder.

But that's not what she did is it. You seem disapointed that managed to do the right thing.
Why do you hate trees?

Anyone who runs a jewelry store that DOESN'T have firearm protection available almost deserves what they get.

When it comes to raping a person of their God given rights to defend themselves why is it permissible for one person in one part of the country to tell another person what they can and can't do? Feinstein lives in California, she needs to keep her bitch as their and her fucked up dictatorial ideas there, not here in my state.

"Why do you hate trees?"

You don't understand!

It was me or them!

There it is, right in front of us and we didn't see it!

Prohibit jewelry stores!

Are people who die in car crashes or any other accident any less dead than those who die in firearms accidents?

No, but most car accidents, are just that accidents.

What you need to make your point is compare the number of homicides where a car is used as a weapon vs where a firearm is used as a weapon.

Anything else is a strawman

No, my point is that accidental deaths are equally tragic.

No, but most car accidents, are just that accidents.
And the same is true of firearms. Death by motor vehicle is much more common then by firearm.

I concur re accidents.

What what about homicides? I don't think you'll find any who are anti gun or want more gun control are worrying about the accidental comparisons of either a gun or a car (although some do), moreso they are worried about the homicide rate...

There is a book about the subject.
Driven to Kill: Vehicles as Weapons
[ame=http://www.amazon.com/Driven-Kill-Vehicles-as-Weapons/dp/0888644876]Amazon.com: Driven to Kill: Vehicles as Weapons (9780888644879): J. Peter Rothe, Leon James: Books[/ame]
Book Description
Publication Date: October 30, 2004
The charge: first-degree murder. The murder weapon: a 1987 Ford Escort. A car as a murder weapon? In Driven to Kill, J. Peter Rothe unflinchingly examines the use of vehicles in cases of assault, abduction, rape, gang warfare, terrorism, suicide, and murder. What separates an everyday driver from a motorized menace? Read and find out. Yes, Rothe offers a trove of unprecedented research for sociologists, criminologists, policy makers, police, as well as public health, injury prevention, and traffic safety professionals, but his accessible style speaks to our fascination with car culture and true crime stories.

Snippet of editors review

"Most people think of guns and knives when talking about weapons, but cars are being used in a number of violent acts says University of Alberta researcher Peter Rothe. Rothe combines six years of research in his analysis of vehicles as weapons in his new book Driven to Kill, which looks at acts of intentional violence. He spent hours going through databases in Canada and the United States and read provincial Supreme Court files, medical examiner files, historical policy reports and media reports during the course of his research. "I was trying to illustrate, in a numerical and statistical form wherever possible, the existence of violence [while] at the same time, try to keep it human by going through the various reports," said Rothe. His book has a number of first-hand tales from victims and victimizers.... The numbers are staggering in a variety of categories, Rothe says. Police have had enough interactions to understand how vehicles are being used as weapons, but it was a real eye opener for him." Quinn Phillips, Folio, February 2, 2009
