Without the United States, what would the world look like?

For all the hate in recent years for the power of the United States and it's richness, I wonder, what would the world look like if the USA had crumbled, say, 80 years ago? Yeah, lets say we never recovered from the Great Depression. Lets say a massive plague hit America in the 1920's, wiping the country nearly out, and it broke down into a bunch of 8-10 smaller, South American size like nations. Here is how I believe it may have the world looking:

- The Nazis would've taken Europe, and eventually regrouped and beaten the Russian military. Japan would've taken the South Pacific, and established a large presence on the Chinese coastal areas, before settling for what that had conquered. Europe would still be dominated by Germany- the world's economic superpower.

- Japan would not be as economically as powerful as today, as they would not have US protection post-ww2 and would have to fund a massive military to fend off hated China and Russian threats.

- There would be no Israel.

- Iraq would've moved from it's takeover of Kuwait, and become more and more powerful until eventually destroying Iran. It's unchecked aggression is not stopped, as it has an alliance to supply Nazi Germany with oil in exchange for weapons and the Germans allowing them to dominate the Middle East. Iraq eventually takes Saudi Arabia, who surrenders to the Iraqis to avoid a war against the Iraqi military- supplied by Germany.

- Mexico is eventually colonized by the Germans. The Mexican people are still struggling, as there is no America for their poor and desperate to flee to. Both the Germans and Japanese have eyes on the resources of North America.

- Canada continues to bolster it's military in response, while it's people beg for national healthcare. But paying for a massive military to defend itself, while also trying to pay for social entitlements, puts the Canadian gov't on track to bankruptcy.

- The 8 nations of the former United States are doing well, but none are strong enough to stand up to any invasion on their own. They form an alliance with Canada, which the Japanese and Germans take seriously, as they do not want to enter a bloody war on the vast continent.

Anyway, just thought maybe we'd toss some ideas of what the world may look like if the evil, rich, greedy USofA was not around.

Ohh come now, the British would have somehow found a couple million more men and won it all. Or the Soviets would have learned to make communication wire and had twice the production facilities they really had and won it all. Honest.

Well, I'm sure about 1/2 into his crushing of Western Europe, Hitler would've felt bad for not following the appeasement plan and just stopped his mean spirited ways.

I'm sure Japan would've just let China and the South Pacific be and gone back to their island.

I'm sure Canada and it's vast resources would've been safe. Mexico too.

I'm sure that Iraq would've just settled with Kuwait and left the rest of the mid east alone.

And of course, I'm sure that without Israel ever coming back, and without the Nazis ever being stopped, the rest of the Jews of the world would've kept living in peace.

By the way, an extra Thank You:clap2: is always in order for our military and police out there. You guys prevent the kind of tyranny here that too many people before us in history had to experience.

How does the United Nazi States of Russia sound?????? With that, along with an unchecked Japan in WW2 running wild in the Pacific and allied with Germany..........well, eventually China may not have existed much longer. Of course, Nazi vs Japan in the Middle East for oil would've probably happened over time.

But hey, at least evil white American CEO's living in the suburbs who don't wanna pay taxes (as Obama said) never would've existed either, so maybe that woulda been better.

Well there would be one less landmass between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

Is that the answer you're looking for?

Well, at least somebody around here has a sense of humour...

There would be Pax Progressivius, a world dominated by Progressive ideology and beliefs.

A satellite view of the world at night, not that anyone would actually be able to launch one, would reveal a planet as dark as North Korea at night. The only lights would be those in the capital of world government.

During the day, people would bring their trash and dead relatives to the curb to join last months trash and dead relatives in a stinking heap. Free trash collection takes care of carting away the debris.

Worldwide, at least a million people would die of starvation each and every day and the government would hail it's 80th annual record-breaking crop production!

You'd own nothing, you would not even have a real family, your children would be taken at birth to live in the Beloved State Camp. Somebody elses 12 years old would be dropped at your home as your child.

When you got sick you'd get free Health Care. You'd go to a local clinic, which you identify because it has the biggest pile of rotting corpses in front of it, and wait your turn in line. Two days later, you'd see the doctor, who was not a real doctor, or nurse, just someone to hand you a 2,000 page form to fill out, but they are called Doctors and who are you to argue?

The clinic building, like your apartment, is unheated in winter and only an open window provide ventilation and a steady stream of flies in summer. Progressives have successfully stopped all energy production including drilling for "fossil fuels". The last remaining people who had the know-how, were publicly executed as "Enemies of Gaia"

No one is allowed to own a home, the government gives you free living quarters. The rats, roaches, stopped toilets and people who freely enter because you are not allowed a front door come standard with every apartment.

If you are living and breathing you are likely in violation of some governmental regulation. The Worldwide Federal Register contains over 600 million pages of regulations, violation of any of which is punishable by death.

But it's all free, so you're happy.

Or like this but the people would be mostly indigenous since the inbreds would have been wiped off the map before stealing the island.

Actually without America NZ would have still been in the top 10 wealthiest nations, or an identical copy of Sweden, Denmark or something. The only problem is that it would be like South Africa today as in the vast majority of the natives in poverty, starving and astronomical crime rates. Or worst case scenario it would be a communist state.

Don't encourage him.

Would there be a World? Without American troops and industrial production in WWII the Nazi's would have acquired the A-bomb before anyone else and Hitler would have used it mercilessly on the Russians and the British Island. Remember back then the effects of radiation was not fully understood. Hitler’s desire was to rule the world and with the A-bomb at his disposal the world could have been devastated from fallout. It would have taken a lot of them but the German industrial machine, if not bombed daily by the allies could have produced many bombs. Now we have exploded numerous A-bombs and H-bombs in the atmosphere during the tests and we are still here but those were in the ocean. Nuclear bombs on cities produce a lot more radioactive fallout and dust in the atmosphere than the ocean.

A better scenario would hae been what if we had listened to Conservatives of the 30's and 40s who advocated a hands off foreign policy and free market response to the Depression

The US economy would hae floundered, we would have remained an isolationist second rate power while either Germany, Russia or Japan filled the power void. We would still maintain a Monroe Doctrine control oer the Americas but the Soviets would have controlled Europe and Japan would have controlled Asia

The US stepping up and filling the power vacuum created by the war made us an economic and military super power

Free Market response ended the 1920 Recession in a year. Hoover Central Planning deepened the later recession and FDR turned it into a depression

Here's the FDR data set, show me when Progressive Central Planning ended the Great Depression

1933: 24.9, 1934: 21.7%, 1935: 20.1%, 1936: 16.9%, 1937: 14.3%, 1938: 19.0%, 1939: 17.2%.

Still eating that Right Wing revisionist nonsense that the recession of the early 20s was the same magnitude of the Great Depression of the 30s?

It was Coolidges blindness to big business and financial industry excesses that dumped the Depression on poor Hoover

After Harding, Collidge and Hoover.......nobody elected a Republican president for 20 years

Who could blame them

I think a better question is, "Without the Republicans, what would the United States look like?"
