Yep....strict gun control in Brazil....for law abiding people....and their murder rate is out of control....now they are finally understanding why the United States has the 2nd Amendment enshrined in our Constitution...

People Are Ready to Buy Some Guns in the World’s Murder Capital

Desperate Brazilians are wondering whether they’d be better off armed, given that around 60,000 of their compatriots are killed each year. Polls show support for gun ownership gaining ground. In an election year, politicians are paying attention.

One of the candidates leading the field for October’s 2018 presidential election -- hardline conservative Jair Bolsonaro -- has promised to allow law-abiding citizens to arm themselves, a popular pledge in the nation with by far the most homicides of the entire world. Even before then, Congress may debate legislation to overturn the “disarmament statute,” a law that effectively bans civilian gun ownership, except in rare circumstances. The proposal would allow Brazilians with clean criminal records who pass psychological and firearm exams to buy up to six weapons.
======
“Everyday, everywhere you look, the criminal is armed with a high-powered weapon as the citizen tries to hide,” Rogerio Peninha Mendonca, the lawmaker behind the proposal, said in an interview. “What we want is for the citizen to be more capable of defending himself.”

Which effectively prices most Brazilians out of the market. The Socialists have messed that place up big time.

Here is NPR with more on the story...notice the lame arguments they make about gun control...

Brazil Has Nearly 60,000 Murders, And It May Relax Gun Laws
"Still, gun control advocates say the basic argument of gun rights groups here is flawed because the people who are arguing for greater access to guns don't account for most of the victims.".....-NPR...flawed? How about, they are trying to PREVENT from BEING victims...?

Actually, Brazil is a basket case in general as a nation... I'm not sure why you'd want to compare tothem in any case.

Oh, that's right, because the US compares so badly to other advanced nations.

Well of course. It is all apart of the Globalist's plan.

We compare badly because we are better than other advanced countries

Easily solved. Tell American liberals you need money to buy guns to protect homosexual monkey moths in the Brazilian rainforest. Within a week you'd have enough money to arm half the country. On a more serious note, there is an opportunity here if draconian gun laws are lifted in Brazil. Innocent people who only want to protect themselves and their families will find those willing to help them in many places.

That is how pathetic this nation Has become in the eyes of right-wingers. The USA is not compared to Germany but to Brazil. How much lower do these rightists want to take us down?

Most America first folks, don't accept being compared to any lesser nation, be it Germany, Brazil, or Botswana.

Who compared it to Brazil, you lame brained doofus.....

My post is pointing out that with an incredibly high murder rate under strict gun control laws....after allowing their citizens to own guns, their gun crime and murder rate has gone down, not up...

The exact opposite outcome from what morons like you say will happen if normal people own and carry guns...showing you don't know what you are talking about when it comes to gun ownership and crime...

You doofus.

It's the same arguments we heard in states that adopted CCW licenses, although Brazil didn't go that far.....yet. I'm sure they will if their media is more honest and less political than ours, and reports stories of people saving their own lives with firearms. Right now, those firearms are restricted to homes, or can be taken to the range using similar requirements that we still have in the US unless you have a CCW.

It also demonstrates what we've been telling the left for years. When you take away guns from good people, the bad people will still have them, and that's exactly what took place in Brazil. They had a black market for guns unavailable to law abiding citizens. What happened? Crime and murders escalated. The criminals had the guns, and the people didn't.

Once they get comfortable with the idea of armed citizens, and attacks on the streets continue, people will then ask to be allowed to take their firearms out with them, loaded and ready to go. Good for them.

Would you say then that high crime is cultural and not because of lax firearm laws?

You (that is, the gun control advocates in this discussion) are contradicting your own arguments but you’re too myopic to see it.

Gun proponents have been saying for years that the firearm crime rate is cultural and not due to access to firearms and gun control advocates have been saying the opposite. Yet here you are criticizing those who cite Brazil as a comparison precisely because of Brazil’s bad culture. Duh.

The point is - in case you missed it - is that Brazil has stricter gun laws than the U.S. but a much higher crime rate. Why? If you say it’s culture then you would be correct and you’ve just unwittingly reinforced what gun proponents have been saying all along.

Liberals are void of logic. That's why they can't understand it's the will of an individual to murder another, not the weapon they use.

If you take a nice safe white suburb, and create a law everybody must own a gun, their crime and murder rate will not change. If you go to the hood, make a law against all firearms, their rate of crime and murder will not change either. Liberals can't comprehend that.

Democrats do not care if we have guns, that doesn't bother them. What bothers them is that we can use them to defend ourselves. That makes us less dependent on government for protection. If they could somehow outlaw guns, crime would increase dramatically. And how do you fight big crime? The same way you fight big pharma, big business, big tobacco, and that is with a bigger government.

I watched a PragerU video that pretty well summed up one of the fundamental differences between conservatives and liberals. Conservatives are about improving society by improving themselves and being an example. Liberals are about trying to improve society by requiring everyone else to improve.

My Colombian co-worker visits his relatives in Brazil; he's says it's a dog-eat-dog culture.
