I wish taxes would be flat and based on sales so that everyone gets taxed and has some skin in the game.

Most should be, since if we did go to a Fed sales tax we could almost completly close the IRS. thus shrinking government, lower the cost of operation which, hopefully leads a lower debt.

You're proposal is heavily weighted against the poor who have to spend a much larger percentage of their pay checks to get by. It's a massive tax break for the wealthy and tax hike on the poor.

Economic Logic: How well does the flat tax work?
What does this mean for a flat tax in OECD countries? First, the efficiency gains of such a reform do not seem to be that important. Second, tax compliance is already relatively high, for example in the US, which makes the gains less important in this respect. In the case of the US, a flat tax has, however, still the merit of simplifying an incredibly complex tax system that is the bread and butter of too many accountants.
A Brief Guide to the Flat Tax
Unlike the current system, a flat tax is simple, fair, and good for growth. Instead of the 893 forms required by the current system,[4] a flat tax would use only two postcard-sized forms: one for labor income and the other for business and capital income. Unlike the current system, which discriminates based on the source, use, and level of income, a flat tax treats all taxpayers equally, fulfilling the "equal justice under law" principle etched above the main entrance to the U.S. Supreme Court building. And unlike the current system, which punishes people for contributing to the nation's wealth, a flat tax would lower marginal tax rates and eliminate the tax bias against saving and investment, thus ensuring better economic performance in a competitive global economy.
