Wisconsin goes...

...smoke free in about a week.

They're fucking nuts. I can't *wait* to see the number of places that go out of business due to being forced to run their business the way someone else sees fit.

Amazing how fast and how far fetched we have done the new prohibition. Where is the concept of liberty and freedom of choice? You want to be stupid, go for it!

nc is smoke free....i quit smoking....i am not standing out in 2 degrees to smoke....simple as that...
NC wasn't smoke free when I was there in December. The restaurant I was in, the smoke was so thick waitresses needed foghorns.

Wisconsin is about to experience the same as MN... a loss of 20-30% of all bars and taverns.

20-30%? This is Wisconsin. Beer country. I think we're going to lose a LOT more than that.

Quite a few restaurants, too, since most of them had their smoking sections separated, and those smoking sections ended up being 75% of their business. There's *always* a wait to get in to smoking; never for non...

It will not only hurt revenue for the taverns, it will hurt cigarette sales; convenience stores, etc. Encouraging people to quit smoking may be a noble thing to do, but it will have a devastating effect on businesses and tax revenue esp during a recession. Bad timing Wisconsin.

and right behind that they'll legalize smoking marijuana. :lol:and taxing it to raise revenue. there is no accounting for librals.

I love that the victims cry about how the smoke is forced on you. Yes victim, it's horrible you are forced at gunpoint to go in to these establishments.

Too bad the reality is that the business "owner" will be forced at gunpoint to not allow cigarette smoke despite it being "their" property.

I am not a smoker, but these laws really piss me off.

If I choose to go see a band, 9 times out of 10 it's where smoking is allowed. I know that going in, and CHOOSE going there, knowing that I'm going to come home with my hair and clothes reeking of smoke.

I made a CHOICE to go there, and the owners made a CHOICE to let people smoke there.

Now, if I'm going out to eat, or taking my daughter out to eat, I pick a place that is non-smoking, because we can't stand to smell that $hit while we are eating, and my daughter hates being around smoke of any kind.

Thank goodness in Indiana we still have the option to CHOOSE where we want to go, but I'm wondering how long that will last.

It's nuts that more states are taking away these rights!

Oh the Oneidas, Menominee, Lac Du Flambeau, Ho Chunk and Mohican are going to have a field day as they can jack up prices AND encourage people to go to their casinos and SMOKING restaurants. Gotta love the reservations.

Yeah the rest of the country that has done this have seen massive closures.
Day care centers.
Rest homes.
Churches.
Hospitals.
etc.

People don't go to any of the above for fun and relaxation, you imbecile! They DO go to bars, restaurants, bowling alleys, amusement parks, and the like.

sorry I was thinking ot Tea Baggers.

You do realize this is in General Chat, and simply a sounding board for me, and I don't give have a shit for having it politicized, right? I'm sure there's any of at least a dozen teabagger discussions you can join elsewhere.
