Microsoft during its Worldwide Partner Conference 2011 has declared that the next generation User Interface of Windows 8 will be chromeless at core.

The evolution of Windows has brought a major revamp to the Windows 8 UI especially when the system will be run on next generation gadgets like Tablet PC or slates.

Basically for understanding, the old GUI will be replaced with the new UI on non-traditional form factors. There is no taskbar, no Start button, no notification area and practically no Desktop, just Chromeless.

Y'all do realize "non-traditional" form factors is not specifically referencing desktops or laptops...... right?
What it appears to encompass is the tablet market, I seriously don't think Microsoft is that stupid as to suddenly switch their customer base to a whole new, completely unfamiliar OS for typical systems.
Yeah for those who will chime in on that one, all of MS's operating systems have had at least a level of familiarity with the basic desktop layout.
While I don't think PCs and laptops will be going the way of the dinosaur any time soon MS still has to work it's way into the phone/tablet market in order to compete in the future and that means eventually the MS desktop we are all used to will eventually go bye, bye as more and more people get used to working on small form factor units.
