Will You Join The Revolution? Sign The Pledge!!!

Oh gee, 2100 signers, that's massive. Also, only corporate lobbying? Why so socialist?

How about we vote out our own representatives if they are doing a bad job every election? I have no wish to "kick them all out", as far as I know my representative is doing a fine job.

Also, why is it we have to vilify 'special interests' and 'lobbyists'? People will always 'lobby' their own interests to their elected representative, that's the whole point of having a representative, so he/she can represent your best interests.

I can't vote on other state's senators and congressmen. I dont think you should leave anyone in for more than a term or two, even if they are doing a good job. The position of power we give to them should be temporary in order to stave off corrupting influences.

You don't see any problem with how our politicians are governing and who they let influence their decisions?

I'm not vilifying special interests or lobbyists, i'm calling them out for what they have been doing. To tell the truth, even if the truth is ugly for them, is not villifying
.

However when the politicians listen to rich special interests because they need the wealth of those interests to get reelected the people have no power. If we start voting them out the politicans will see a clear choice....listen to the people over the corporate sponsored lobbyists or be fired by the people you are supposed to represent.

Too many politicians seem more concerned with re-election than with doing their jobs.

I think that we are getting ready to do just that, people are so fed up. Special interests, lobbyists have no business running this country, they do nothing good for the people. Power corrupts, we need term limits in the congress and the senate. We turn those people over every 4-6 years and lobbyists and special interests don't have the time to get their hooks into them.

Why do you want to take away people's right to vote for who they want to?

Better idea:

Elect me President!

I can promise you that if you all would elect me President your lives would become very, very exciting!

I live in Congressman Steny Hoyer's district. I don't like the guy, but the politician who's about to run against him is worse, so I'm going to opt to keep Hoyer in another term. As for my state's governor's race I'm def voting third party. O'Malley's got to go and the Republicans are more then likely either putting up the governor that Maryland Bob Erhlich. Both of them have been absolute disasters for the state. I'm hoping O'Malley looses the Democratic primary and they put up somebody worth voting for... doubt it though. The democratic establishment in maryland is very strong and is pushing behind O'Malley pretty nicely. Bastards.

Nobody wants to take away people's right to vote for who they want to. We just want them to vote who THEY want to vote for and not for who they are PAID to vote for.

As long as we are sticking to US Congress and the Senate, im in agreement. Im happy with my local representatives.

How about this? I want to be appointed benevolent dictator with unliminited authority and no opposition for just one year. I'm pretty sure I could get enough policy in place in that year to fix most of what ails us.

Then you can be president, keep my policies in place for your term of office, and by that time I think we will have enough Americans convinced that there is a better way to run the government than the way it is currently being done.

If not, I'll make a copy of the key to the treasury for both of us.

Deal?

Or you could just run against him yourself and eliminate the need to pick the lesser of two evils.

Seriously though, I was reading about an elementary classroom project in which the kids would nominate two people to be 'president' and those two would campaign for the office.

Kid No. 1 read his well prepared speech outlining all the practical ways that the school could be improved. He received enthusiastic applause.

Kid #2 got up and said, "If you elect me, I will give everybody ice cream.

Much discussion ensued. The first kid had already explained how improving the school could be done. The other kid gave no specifics, no details, and the other kids didn't seem to care where she would get the ice cream or how she was going to pull it off.

But ice cream sounded really good.

She won in a landslide.

And that is our problem. Our government has made far too many people dependent or two hopeful that this guy or that guy would be able to make their lives wonderful for far too long now. And promising them ice cream sounds much better than limited government and personal responsibility.

Replacing remocrats with depublicans isn't kicking anyone out.....It's just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

You miss the point. You can replace democrats with new democrats for all we care just get rid of EVERYONE who is in there now.

And what will stop those same lobbyists from corrupting them the same way. Kicking them all out is not the solution. And the problem is not with Congress. The problem is us. We want lobbyists lobbying our politicians. We just don't want the lobbyists that we disagree with lobbying out politicians. We are conflicted.

I agree with diaper boy! On most of his points with the exception he left out agribusiness interest that are more ingrained in the downfall of this democracy and enslave the common man much more than big oil. Even bankers were played by bankers that run the agriculture industry and that my friends is what has caused the average working man to suffer even today. Spreading hate for the average us citizen around the world as they destroy life and enslave many into believing that they are doing it for good.

You've all been played and you fall for the party line propaganda every time. Carolyn Baker - AN OPEN LETTER TO HILLARY CLINTON FROM A WELLESLEY COLLEGE ALUMNA

Poor woman she really believed that her Obama was going to make a difference when she gave her support to him. Obama, Monsanto, and Hillary Clinton'... - **Genetically modified food watch** - tribe.net

Sorry folks but traitors have already seeped into this democracy so deep you'll won't be able to just use simple minded partisan politics to rid yourselves of these cockroaches. It will take a much more strategic plan than I doubt most here can come up with and only a few have the fortitude to do what will need to be done to keep liberty walking and bring back a true democracy. This is not going to be a battle with force that will take these men and women who sold your country to the dogs off track. Wits, work, fortitude and faith is what it will take.

I'm afraid too many of y'all would rather play the "I can be comfortable game, I only care about want I want and I'll get by." Long term you are going to learn that you've made a mistake if you think that you can just scrap by, watch and do nothing. It's too easy to just sellout verses face the inconvenience of giving time, effort or even a bit of out of pocket money to stop what is happening.

Both Republicans and Democrats are sold out and bought and paid for. Remember that next time you consider how you want your children and grandchildren to be living in the future.

Because they are scum. They corrupt the system. They steal from the voice of the people. They are the conduits of graft from those corporations that are intrenched like leaches burried deep into the bussom which is our treasury and self interest.

Point....Why do our representatives give billions in corporate welfare to the oil companies that squeeze every drop of blood from our economy with oil owned by us leased to these vermin, refined and sold back to us at as high a price as they think they could get away with. I have an idea to help get the economy on its feet tuite suite. Throw these vultures that own the oil companies and those that speculate on this critical comodity that shouls be considered part of our national security, into jail, charge them with treason and execute them. Take nationalize all oil operations. Gas would go down to less than a dollar a gallon immediately. That would lower the cost of all goods and sevices immediately. Imagine what it would do for the economy if every american had an extra couple of hundred dollars a month for the next twenty years paying for us made goods that would cost 25 per cent less. Naw never mind...you chumps just keep taking it up the ass and pretending you are in love with the rapists.

This guy calls it framing. I believe the founders of this once wonderful country of the free and brave would call it treason. You can all stuff it if you think I hate the country or want to insinuate that I do. I love the people of this country that truly love and care for one another and that is not your political partisan hacks of today who will sell themselves to the highest bidder. These people have used the goodwill, courage and love that so many American's have within their hearts to frame you all into being their chore boys to do their dirty work. Forward with the tea parties!!! You know the ones a few on here call "trailer trash"! Hell Obama want's to honor Jane Fonda for assisting the enemy in excessive torture and murder of our troops in prison camps. She hand the note each prisoner of war she shook hands with over to their captures and they in turn torture the men who had hoped she would give their SS numbers to their families to let them know they were still alive. That bitch had no honor when she did that to our men and this is the type of people the current administration wants to honor!!! Piss on them and the mule they road in on!
Framing a too bright picture, or how......

My position is somewhat in between, and without much thinking I have positioned myself in a gray zone, in between a slight worry about environmental impact and a simultaneous longing for progress. My slightly undecided (uninformed) point of view has made me, and a lot of Americans, the perfect victim for framing.

I think you should all kick out your elected representative..

Mine is doing a good job so I think I will keep him

We wont be voting for any current office holders, Unfortunately I cant speak for the people who keep sending kooks like Boxer Lee Reid and Pelosi to DC.

I determine who to vote for on a person-by-person basis. I will not be limited by some silly pledge. For the next election cycle, there will be no current office holders that I would support. There is an opportunity to take a past office holder and send him to a new position. He is highly effective and will get my vote.

The politics of America is much simpler than anyone seems to think. The reality is purposely confused by the Rulers so as to camoflauge it:

Our Country is ruled by an economic elite. Their interests are pretty much championed by the Republican party. When the American people get pissed off at the rulers, we elect Democrats, who serve as a token opposition party. This serves to let the America people get off steam and have some hope that things will change. They don't.

The Democrats give lip service to alot of pro working class (ie. employee) issues, but who (as was just proven by the whole health Care Bill fiasco) fall on their face, shoot themselves in the foot etc... at every chance that they have to bring about significant change. Sure, they make some small less significant changes, so as not to appear to be a total fraud.

Now, the Republicans, because they represent the interests of only a tiny minority of the people, first a have to do what every ruling class always does: Create a class of overpaid, under worked sycophants whose chief personality characteriistics are being EXTREME conformists and having a very strong sense of socio-economic Heirarchy. These people champion the Republican rhetoric shamelessly.

But, this is not enough, The Republicans hunt out every weird quirky nonsensical issue that appeals to any group that they can get worked up over it. Gay rights, Abortion, Monika Lewinsky etc...while the Democrats purposefully take the opposing issue (should ELECTIVE abortions really be paid for by the federal government...ELECTIVE?) This brings the Republicans close to a majority, but since their constituents get awfully emotional about these side issues they win at the polls.

The Republicans, like the Democrats, fall on their face whenever they have the chance to make changes in the fringe issues that they give lip service to.

The result is: a divided working class that gets screwed at every turn in regarding the one class of issues that really matters: economics.

This system stinks.

There will be no third party. Everytime people try to form one it fails. Mostly because third parties are always extremist partys. Theoretically there could be a middle of the road 'Workers' party, but that would only serve to divide the Democratic party and result in anti-worker Republican victories. (Beside, any party that represented the employees of America would be declared socialist or communist by the Republicans, and we all know how brainwashed, like pavlovian dogs, the conservative sycophants are when they hear those words).

The only hope that I can see is if all those employees that are drawn to the Republicans over these weird, quirky side issues continually elect Democrats by huge majorities. This would signal huge dissatisfaction with the ruling elite and force the Democrats to take actions in order to maintain some credibilty.

Electing extreme liberals and leftists, under the Democratic party, will not result in America being taken over by these ideologies. IT WILL SHAKE UP THE POLITICAL SYSTEM SOMETHING AWFUL AND SCARE THE BEJESUS OUT OF THE RULING ELITE.

Next thing you know basic survival will dictate that the Republicans and the Democrats cut the BULLSHIT are start doing what they were elected to do.
