Yup! it certainly was the opposite, I recall the two RINOs.... President McCain and President Romney saying that after they were elected.
I don't recall any radical conservatives even making it out of the GOP primary. How has that worked out for you?
And there lies the problem. When your view of what a Republican is becomes so far out of whack from rationality, actual conservatives become liberals. Once the party comes back to the real world, perhaps we can finally understand that the real RINOs are the extremists. Until then, it will just become more and more marginalized and less and less relevant.
First to RW, who said nominate a far right winger? Personally they need someone who is loyal to the Constitution and who will also be empathetic enough to know that you have to temper conservatism with compassion and logic.
Those that are making claims that there's a "new" America may be in for a shock come the next election cycle. Americans are still conservative to moderate...not far left... like some of the loons here.
Romney didn't motivate enough Republicans to turn out...that simple. Even with the Hispanic vote trending to Obama, Romney could have won with a better ground game.
Bush won enough of the Hispanic vote.
As I said earlier, Hispanics are very much like the immigrants of the early part of the last century. Most want to work and make a decent living and be rewarded for their hard work. They are religious and want to assimilate.
The Republicans need a real workable immigration plan. Self-deportation is idiotic. Expecting to round up and deport those illegals still here is just as insane. We do need to stop the wandering right in idea and this nonsensical advertising food stamps on Mexican televsion trying to lure them here simply for their vote.
The GOP is far from dead and nowhere near the dire straights that the media is intentionally propagating.
And before someone brings up Jindal keep in mind he's a politican and as such is going to pander like others who have an eye on the Presidency. It's why he jumped on the GOP revitalization bandwagon.
