Will The GOP Be Split? What Do You Think?

I'm sure that the primaries will be lively.

However, when the 2012 election happens in November, please don't think for a second that any GOP voter will vote for Barry. Its a nice "strawman", a straw to grasp, but its more wishful thinking than voting plausibility.

it doesn't matter who a GOP voter votes for. they're a given. no one thinks they'll vote for obama. maybe rand paul or one of the other fringe candidates picks off a few, but most of them will vote party, same as the dem base.

it's who the indies vote for that counts. the sooner the GOP figures that out, the closer they'll be to finding a viable candidate in 2012.

Indeed. While I'm always heartened that the liberals worry so about the GOP and the Tea Parties, it really isn't their problem.

They were wrong about the Tea Parties being a flash in the pan, I knew that with first leadership meeting. GOP were not the majority, libertarian leaning independents were first, then GOP, then Libertarian, then a token Democrat.

Not a one was 'Christian Conservative' in the sense of making marriage or abortion a front burner issue, anything but. It was all about size and scope of Government and on Federalism.

Next election on national level the tea parties or their members will be very influential on presidential choices, don't expect to see a push for those the Democrats are praying for. The real influence though, were the third party question will come into play is on local and state elections, for therein lies the future.

What are the "indies" base beliefs? It's clear that R's support the wealthy - bankers, insurance execs, industrialists; D's support the underclass - & unions, working men and women. L's (Libertarian's) support a sort of free form anarchy. So how does one of the two major parties (or do L's collect many I's?) appeal to the I's?

I would suggest that for the most part, the I's fall into one of three categories.....

People at the EXTREME Left end of the political spectrum and don't feel the Dems are LIBERAL/SOCIALIST ENOUGH.

People at the EXTREME Right end of the political spectrum and don't feel the Repubs are CONSERVATIVE ENOUGH.

The unwashed masses in the middle who generally don't vote unless they're shown a definitive reason to.

I would suggest that of the first two groups, the Second is larger than the First. Especially if one includes the "Libertarians" in the mix. That provides them will a slight advantage.

The third group generally gets motivated to vote only when there is something they want to vote AGAINST, or someone they REALLY want to vote FOR. We've seen both of those reactions in the last two National elections. So the question comes down to.... Which side is going to give them something to vote Against or For to push that group one way or the other? If neither side does, the Republicans probably have an advantage. At least in my mind.

And if you think "indy" equates with "Demo-lite" I have a bridge to sell you.
John McCain was consistently voted the Republican most Democrats would vote for. He was the maverick, taking on his own party, etc etc.
He got absolutely trashed because, a) Democrats are a bunch of partisan liars anyway, and b) the party's core wasn't really happy about him. And those are the people who elect candidates.

It's clear you're possibly the most uninformed idiot on this board. But you haev stiff competition.
How many times do you need to see how much money Wall St companies gave to the Dems vs the GOP? The Democrats are for big money interests, whether it is corporate big money, union big money, gov't big money or what have you.
Republicans are for Main Street, small businesses, mom and pop.

Since you're a liar I do not take offense at you calling me an "uninformed idiot", in fact, in an odd way it is a compliment.
