Will The Democrats Finally Admit They Are a Socialist Party?

It's kind of hard to get offended by the label anymore when you've got thousands of enthusiastic Democrats lining up to hear Bernie Sanders' populist Scandinavian style welfare state plan for our nation. The man is, after all, the only self admitted Socialist elected to the U.S. Senate and he is edging closer and closer to toppling Hillary each day.

why would democrats do that. most probably believe in a mixed economic system... you know, like most successful, civilized country in the world.

nice troll thread, though.

you're talking about the smaller number of european "mixed" democracies propping up a larger number of failed ones leftard??
Only since the corrupt Boosh World Depression duh...

not a deflection, but a Truth. Persons can own what they want to acquire and posses, mostly.

are steak and lobster prohibited items for EBT purchases?

it's a yes or no question

No. No reason they should be. They are at least healthier than cheaper cuts of meat. But honestly, most people with food stamps are not going to spend them on steak and lobster, because they need the money to last.

If I had food stamps, I'd be buying steak right now, though. My local supermarket has a "buy one, get two free" on petite sirloin packs. Do you know how many quality, nutritious meals I could make out of that?

Imagine what the neighbors would say about food stamp people only eat steak.

people sell food stamps on the street. for $100 cash you can get $200 of food with somebody's EBT card.

hungry people dont do that

Can't speak for anyone else, but I myself have never cared what the neighbors or anyone else says. I'm not really equipped to even contemplate the idea.

Actually pretty rare, and not usually a regular thing. More like a one-time, desperate need for cash right now kind of scenario.

I'm not saying there's not abuse of the system. Obviously, there is. But it's not realistic to think that large numbers of people on food stamps are living high on the hog and making a regular point of selling them.

In a large population there will always some mooching the system, just as there will be some using the bankruptcy laws to mooch. There comes a point where it is more economical to catch the gamers and a point where it is not economical.

If they were actually a socialist party, it wouldn't be so bad. But they're not. If they were a socialist party, ACA would have been single payer.

The Democrats aren't socialist. They're predominantly corporatists - which is far worse.

Regular Democrats aren't socialists or Eurosocialists, they're just to the left of center on the political spectrum.

Those on the hardcore left, a smaller group, are mostly Eurosocialists, though only some of them admit it.

Same in the GOP - you have most just right of center and then you have the hardcore types, a smaller group, on the end.

And in both parties the ends are the loudest and most influential, even though they're relatively small in actual size.

The behaviors and construction of both parties are very similar.
.

Of course they are socialists. They believe there is not a single problem out there that cannot be solved with a well-=crafted government program with sufficient funding.

This is where you are fundamentally wrong.

Democrats believe solutions can be solved by the Government, Public Private Partnership or Private.

The belief you have I think is that only capitalism(Private) can solve problems.

Correct me if I am wrong?

Speaking for myself, and not Rabbi, if you're referring to libertarian opposition to Democrat policies, you're definitely missing the point. It's not that only capitalism can solve problems, or that government can't solve problems.

The important question is "What kinds of problems should government solve?"

Agreed. But I take issue with the idea that the ideological hardcore are the problem. And, while they may be the loudest, they're not the most influential. It's so-called moderates and centrists who are selling us out.

ACA was the perfect example. If healthcare reform were left up to the ideological extremes we get something that actually worked. We'd either have a real free market solution, or we'd actually socialize medicine as a genuine concern of government. Instead we get the tortured middle-ground that sacrifices the public interest to subsidize private profits.

Interesting, and I couldn't agree more on the ACA, good stuff. What a mess that sucker is, but I'll scream about that on another thread.

I think where the wings' influence is seen most is in the public discourse, and that kind of plays into what you're saying. The wings don't necessarily ACT upon hardcore ideas, but they do introduce them into the discussion and add to the noise. This, at a time when we face serious issues, and need sober, serious conservation.
