Will Republicans Save Us?

Democrat control of the White House, House of Representatives and the Senate has produced an unprecedented level of political brazenness and contempt for the limitations placed on the federal government by the U.S. Constitution. As such, it has raised a level of constitutional interest and anger against Washington's interference in our lives that has been dormant for far too long.

Part of this heightened interest and anger is seen in the strength of the tea party movement around the nation. Another is the angry reception that many congressmen receive when they return to their districts and at town hall meetings. According to the most recent Gallup poll, only 20 percent of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing, but that's up from a March 2010 low of 16 percent.

I won't be holding my breath.

Americans are capable of saving themselves. We don't need politicians to do it for us. All we need from them is for them to get the fuck out of the way.

To answer the OP, no, the GOP cannot save us. Nor can the Dems. Both parties are primarily interested in gaining, then keeping power.

No.
republicans will NOT save us.

repubs helped put us in this position in the first place.

That is not true but don't let a little thing like the truth stop you.

What fucking planet do you live on where the GOP is innocent in the debacle that is our current state of affairs?

No wonder our politicians are corrupt... They don't think 'we' are too stupid to act against them, they know we are.

There needs to be a purge of progressofascist elitism in both the elected, and bureauratic structure. Till this is accomplished, things will not turn far.

Can't ban lobbying. Constitutionally protected free speech.

Of course there is an easy way to end this incestuous cycle.

1. institute term limits on all elected officials and a lifetime cap of 30 years total time in government service in the bureaucracy OR elected office at any level.

2. 10 year ban against a politician being employed for the purpose of or by the media, lobbyists or political nonprofits/committees/contractors/charities

3. All congressional districts must be drawn with the smallest volume, and shortest perimeter to meet constitutional standards.

Ban PAID lobbyists, not lobbyists alltogether.

Also allow no lobbyists or outside groups to write bills. All bills must be written by congressional staffs.
Can't. Money equals free speech. If you choose to pay for a lobbyist they can't stop you. You can regulate the GIFTS severely though.

I'd rather have a totally transparent system where there is no hidden funding or gifts. Make that a felony. the 10 year bar to certain industries also prevents that kind of payola too.

Agreed. The entire group of the elected officials AND the parties should be swept out of power and kept from doing anything more than voting for the next 25 years.

The population needs to be educated on their responsibilities as citizens to keep themselves informed.

We need better watchdogs of government, because the current media is concerned with only two things. Making money and keeping liberals in power.

Well, part of the problem is that so many people got the idea that it was the media that was supposed to be the watchdogs of the government, rather than the people themselves being the watchdogs of BOTH the government AND the media.

If a job is truly important, you're better off doing it yourself.

the media IS supposed to be the watchdogs of the government. how can you say that's not an essential reason for their existence? how is someone living in kansas working a job and raising a family supposed to know what's going on in washington if not for the media?

isn't that kind of like saying, it's the job of the referee to officiate the game, its the job of the fan to officiate the refs and the players.

And there we have the crux of the problem: people who think someone else should take care of things for them. The government should be responsible for fixing the problem, the media should be responsible for watching the government, SOMEONE ELSE should be responsible for making sure I have a good world to live in.

The media can claim any purpose for existence it wishes to. But you're still a fool if you leave it up to someone else to ensure liberty and good government for you.

The GOPers have no respect for America. They think we are idiots that cannot remember WAAAAAAY back when they had power.

There is no way these cretens will be able to convince America that Obama is responsible for the state of the country. Yes some of the polling shows that we citizens are not happy. That does not translate to us thinking that the people that put us in this fix will be a better choice than those actually working on solutions.

GOP..."Sure we shit on everything we laid our hands on But Obama wasn't fast enough trying to fix everything".

Sorry snakes... Your dog won't hunt.....

Intelligent Americans will "Stay The Course"...

Well, you couldn't remember way back when Democrats had power. Are you really that surprised Republicans would feel the same?

What people will remember is that in spite of all the Hoopla giving tax breaks to the super rich, they did not produce the jobs that could be accellerating our climb back out of the shit hole you put us in. What seniors will remember is the insideous scam of the "donut hole" wheras medicare was not allowed to bargain with the pharms. What all Americans will remember was two wars ...a couple of trillion not paid for or even accounted for and no Osama Bin Ladin. What we all will remember was 7 years of fear mongering. What we will remember will be a non stop assault on trying to give SS to the rat bastards that destroyed the financial institutions and over half of the nations wealth. Can you even imagine what shape our retired people would be in ..if Bush got his way and shit away grandmas social security?

I don't give a rats ass about democrats..but I LOATH the stinking christian fundimentalist snakes that stole my party and ruined my country.

I will do everthing in my power to make sure it is a cold day in hell before they get their boney hands back on the reigns of power.

If a few republicans would just come out with plans that are not exactly like Bush's, they might have had a chance.

They really want to go back to exactly the same policies. How can this possibly make sense to republican voters?

Obama is continuing just about all of Bush's policies, so what are you talking about?

Such as?

gitmo, warrantless wiretapping, grew both wars, restricted civil liberties at home more, shut out the press, less transparency in government

Will Republicans Save Us?

Sure, look at the detailed plan they releas--oh. Oh my.

"Rand's Plan" should be the Republican Plan, but it won't happen.

I will never, ever vote for a taxpayer bailout of a private industry. Whether it’s big banks, automakers, or any other industry — you succeed or fail on your own.

I will not vote for an unbalanced budget. I will not vote for a tax increase. Ever.

I will fight for new rules like a Balanced Budget Amendment and Term Limits.

I will not take ANYTHING off the table in the fight to balance the budget. Anyone who says something like they will “freeze non-defense discretionary spending” is blowing smoke at you and hoping you won’t notice. That would balance the budget — MAYBE — in about 80 years.

We have to keep our promises to seniors and keep our country strong, but every area has things that can be cut. Every agency has things that are duplicative or that could be done better or cheaper.

I will propose and force a vote on an Enumerated Powers Act, to force Congress to point to the part of the Constitution that justifies their bills.

I will fight for the Bill of Rights. Democrats often love the 4th amendment. Republicans the 2nd. I will fight for them all, which means fighting for your free speech, gun rights, and civil liberties. Laws that infringe on ANY of these make the federal government more powerful, and we cannot continue to allow that.

I will not allow our troops to be the world’s policeman, and I will force a vote on a Declaration of War if any President seeks to commit our military to battle.

Not your typical politician – Rand’s plan | Rand Paul 2010 | U.S. Senate

Wow, the U.S government really sucks, huh? The Repub & the Dems sucks as well!

No doubt about it!

That's why the U.S. is the world's dominant nation militarily, economically, socially, culturally, politically and in just about every other way imaginable.

While there is no doubt that poor leadership in the past 20 years has led us into a potential economic pickle - one that does threaten our future - don't give me this bullshit that we have an overwhelming history of failing government leadership.

If there is any key point that changed the quality of leadership in this country and started us down the road to ruin, it's the 1994 congressional elections and the whole New Grengrich lead neo-conservative movement.

That's when 'free trade' and 'free market' thinking took over. That's when the U.S. got bought out by China.

We may have had an economic boom back in the 1990s but it was based on the information revolution, tax increases by the Congress in 1993 and massive over extension of credit.

This last decade saw us make idiotic tax cuts - while we had a huge deficit. Continued over extension of credit, continued trade deficits with China, one war that we should never have started, a lack of focus on the war that we should have been focused on, the destruction of the American manufacturing base and a total flow of all wealth into the hands of the wealthiest 1%.

While the Democrats may be a bunch of wishy-washy little girls that are afraid of stepping on anybody's toes, the Republicans are the absolute definition of failure. They are the antithesis of the type of leadership that we need to get us out of this mess. They are the personification of the betrayal of the American dream.

We need protectionism, a tax code that forces the wealthy to invest in high risk, growth oriented industries, an acceptable rate of inflation - to offset the national debt, an end to the nation building strategy in Afganistan and an adoptation of an all out war strategy - end it, end it definitively and end it quickly, a reinstatement of government regulations with enforcement, a completely redefined immigration code, and an end to the philosophy of holding American wages down.

In short, we need radical and decisive leadership. Not a shift to socialism, nor a continuation of the liberatarian philosophy.

In fact we need a revision to the classic and decisive middle-of-the road economic leadership. This is the tradition that made America great.

Only if we drop all these European originated economic philosophies and examine our own history will we find the answers to today problems.

there is this place called Venezuela you would love

I doubt out it.

Our problems are intractable, at least over the next few years. Tax cuts and holding back government spending isn't going to do anything to decrease excessive debt in the private sector nor wipe out the excess capacity in the economy. Only time can do that.

Political parties can't save us. Only God can.

We have to clean the the inner vessel before the outward one.

But God does not do a good job of preserving his followers!

Take a look at the Christian Martyrs--if God was really concerned about them, he would not have let them died in vain.

Maybe God just don't care about believers nor non-believers. Makes one ask "Why believe"?
