Joyce Russell of Wheeler Street said she walked to Sandy’s Liquors. When she got back to her house there were six black males standing in front.

She said one in the group called her “you white b——” and punched her in the face at least twice. He pushed her to the ground and kicked her in the chest and stomach. Then they left without saying anything else.

Police said Ms. Russell had a tooth knocked out and her nose and upper lip were swollen. She had intense pain in her chest. She was taken to the Memorial Hospital emergency room.

They'll probably get an AWARD from the Obama administration! Some real "community organizing" there...

Why exactly do you believe that this crime requires federal involvement? Most hate crimes are investigated at the local level.

Also, did you ever consider that this might have nothing to do with her race, and might instead of occurred because she actually is a bitch? You know, personalities do play a role, particularly in assaults.

Black people dont get convicted for hate crimes against white people, ever, yet they commit far more interracial crime than any other race. Its really too bad, because this unfair treatment for white people only fuels the stupid white supremicists out there. Not to mention, a society that doesnt treat everyone the same will always have racial troubles and dissent.

You're mistaken, dude. Black people can and do get convicted of hate crimes. But, proving a hate crime requires the ability to show that the person victimized was victimized BECAUSE of their race, gender, etc. And not just because of opportunity.
