Why is Congress to blame for the Senate not even considering anything they've sent to them?

The House has to pass bills that have a chance of getting Senate approval. That means you need to negotiate, compromise and reach a common ground on legislation. That is the way bills have always been passed

The House passing bill after bill containing poison pills and then acting shocked when they don't pass is not proper governing

the way it works asshole is for the house to pass a bill, send it to the senate, the senate takes it up (instead of tabling it) debates it, changes it to the senate's liking then they come back to the house and renegotiate the bill and give it an up or down vote. That Nazi Harry Reid is the person responsible for a do nothing congress. But, then, that's his plan.

Willow answered your lack of understanding perfectly, no need to repeat it

Those on the left will believe that Americans will be fine with it.

Those on the right will believe that Americans are not fine with it.

Neither group will be completely accurate in its assessment.

Well, of course not, as the biggest beef with Obama the past year with Americans is that he's been too conciliatory with Congress, and that he needs to become more of a leader and do what is right by America, not by political party, like most Republicans do these days - that is, place political party ahead of Country. Obama, by going around Congress, is placing America ahead of politics. And that is being a LEADER, not a follower. :clap2:

He couldn't lead a fucking scout troop.

And just so you know.... you are wrong about what you think Americans believe. Most are not fucking idiots... just because you are a follower, don't mistake the rest of us for the same.

Does anyone else think the gop needs to get more active promoting their legislation that lies dead in the senate? You know......inform the public. Run a couple national ads or something. The bully pulpit of lies is very powerful.

The reason why the republicans took over Congress in the first place was to stop democrats from their looting the treasury. They are being obstructionist to halt the damage and keep things as they are until obama can be replaced.

I understand that but the public is easily mislead.

The way it works is you pass bills that have a prayer of making it through both chambers. Sending bill after bill crafted to appeal to the lunatic fringe knowing they do not have a prayer of becoming law is not good governing.

I think the GOP needs to tell Grover Nordquist and their lunatic fringe to go fuck themselves. Then they can do what they did in the past which means compromise to get things done.

I have heard several Republicans speak of this but yes, National Ads would be helpful.

Congress can over ride an executive order?
yes, two different ways. Either with a 2/3rds vote or by amending the bill so it passes and become a law.

Basically they still feel the EO is wrong so they amend/fix it so it becomes constitutional.

But EO's are not illegal.

I never said anything about it being illegal. I simply asked how it will be perceived by middle America.

You don't have to be so hysterical and shit in every thread posted by a republican.

Everything Obama is trying to do has 60% or more approval. This the beginning of the "Save the bloated rich and corps by screwing the nonrich" Pubs' comeuppance. Assume the position, A-holes. Dupes, change the channel and pay attention. LOL

No, I don't think that would work well, for a couple of reasons.

One, the legislative agenda of the GOP as it stands today is not very popular. Whether you agree with this or not, the public perception is that we are in trouble, that the gap between the rich and everyone else is far too wide, and that the government needs to do something proactively to help out (in OWS terminology) the 99% instead of the 1%. The only saving grace for the Republicans up until recently is that, being bought off by corporate interests themselves, the Democrats were reluctant to engage in this kind of populist talk (let alone action), but this has changed recently.

Two, as already noted, the House has left itself open to a charge of not governing seriously. It's true that many bills have been submitted to the Senate and died there, but the House was in a position to know that that would happen. The House could choose between passing moderate, compromise bills that might pass the Senate, or making a stand on principle by passing bills that were DOA, and they chose the latter course.

The only thing that would keep the Republicans from being vulnerable to this sort of campaign is to change their governing behavior. Marketing alone won't do it. I used to work in advertising, and there was a popular slogan: Nothing kills a bad product like good advertising.

Bush should have bypassed Dodd and Frank and the obstructionist Democrats in Congress and reformed Fannie and Freddie by Executive order and not let the Democrats collapse the entire housing market
