Will GOP be willing to PAY for cops in all schools? Tax money? Benefits?

So, I see the aftermath has drawn the lines between the left demanding new gun control laws, and the right saying "hogwash" and saying we need armed guards in schools.

So, will the GOP be willing to PAY for that, through more spending and taxing?

You dont wanna trust THAT kind of job to a $10 an hour security guard carrying an old wheel gun revolver do ya?

No, of course not, our kids are worth more than that. They need a full time, fully trained certitfied police officer with tactical training, and the proper weapons to defend that school.

Here..the City of North Charleston just announced they'd add 21 new cops STRICTLY for elementary schools, at a cost of about $1.5 million dollars. The GOP mayor said they'd get the funding through new taxes (The Post and Courier | Charleston SC, News, Sports, Entertainment).

Question is...will the rest of the GOP follow? Will the TEA PARTY be willing to spend more on government workers...aka cops...who need good pay, benefits, and GASP...maybe even an evil, wicked satanic PENSION!!!!!

Cant have it both ways GOP. Get rid of guns, or fund more cops. The choice is yours.

I really don't want to make an argument about the value of the life of a child or teacher, but the fact is that putting armed guards or police officers in all schools would cost between $10 and $20 billion per year nationwide. At the absolute most, we might see 100 casualties per year due to these mass shootings, and that number really is high, but I'll use it to make the math easy. Now, if we assume that we could reduce the 100 casualties to zero, and we use the higher rate of $20 billion, then each life saved cost us $200 million.

Bottom line is that we need a better solution.

That is the problem. One side says the solution is to ban certain types of guns, the other side won't have a bar of it and says the solution is armed guards. But neither one will work.

So even though less than 1% of schools experience mass shootings, your solution is to put a cop in every school? Government, government, and more government is the only solution liberals seem to know.

How about allowing parents and teachers to carry guns at school? Any would-be Adam Lanza would then know he would face the real possibility of encountering an armed teacher or parent very soon after he opened fire (or even just as he pulled out his gun). Has it occurred to anyone on the left that these mass shootings only happen in places that are "gun free"?

Look what happened at the recent shooting at the Clackamas Town Center in Portland, OR. The gunman only managed to kill two people in that crowded mall because one of the customers in the mall was armed and pointed his gun at him. The killer then stopped firing, ran, and then shot himself. (Luckily, the armed customer didn't know that he wasn't supposed to be carrying a firearm in the mall.)

Just think if one of the parents or teachers on the scene at Sandy Hook had been armed. We would be talking about how grateful we were that that parent or teacher was armed and that many more children were not killed--or even that the armed parent or teacher prevented Lanza from killing anyone.

You gotta admit there is no downside to having every teacher packing heat.

Well maybe except for the situation where the kid with the attiude behavioral problem that outweighs his teacher by a hundred pounds, knocks her out and takes her gun.

I am sure nothing bad could come of that.

Or the two crazy kids that don't even need to take their own guns to school. They will just take the teachers guns. Won't that be convenient.

No, there is no downside to this idea at all.

Morons. Schools are governed locally. If the voters of the district want to pay for it, they will vote for it.

:eusa_shhh:
some believe the Federal government runs everything and there are no state governments

sheesh the stupid just keeps going

What??? No comments from the crazy gun lovers?

Yes sir I can see it now. a frail 57 year old woman teacher with a 9 mil on her hip.
And a class room of bad kids from the inner city. Think there might be a problem brewing there? Or are you sure that nothing bad would happen?

If the bad guys know that someone will have a gun, they will first seek out that person.
And with all the information you can find on the internet these days, it wouldn't be too hard to find out which teachers worked at the school, and which ones possessed a gun.

No, we would not need to raise taxes to raise the approx 5 billion a year to put a cop in EVERY school in the US, we already have the money to do it. We just need to take 5 billion out of the money we give to foreign nations, most of whom hate us anyway, or take some of the billions wasted on pork projects that senators and congressmen use to buy votes with, or take some of the billions a year spent on the already lost "War on Drugs" and use that TAX PAYER'S money, to protect the TAX PAYER'S children. You freaking leftists always with the "Raise taxes" mantra are really starting to piss off your fellow working Americans.

As long as there are evil, sick twisted nut jobs in this world, nothing will stop mass shootings 100%, but an armed Police Officer will be much, much, much more effective than bans that have already proven they do not work. You are aware that Columbine was done at the height of the Clinton/Fienstien era ban? You are aware that many mass shooting involve weapons not even being considered for the ban? You do realize that there were many mass shootings during the last ten year ban?

It was Clinton's idea to put a cop in every school when he was in office, and proposed a funding bill for it. Where were to mindless lefties when this was going on ?

Shouldn't we mandate it at the federal level?

If protecting gun rights is important enough to be done at the federal level,

shouldn't protecting children's lives be important enough to be done at the federal level?

How about you show me in the Constitution where the feds are granted this policing power.

So you're arguing that the the right of the nuts to own the guns is a federal concern,

but the safety of the people the nuts end up shooting is not??

What the fuck?

Why don't you ask the NRA that? They're the ones suggesting that CONGRESS appropriate the funds.

As always, conservatives want something for free.

I like this idea, these Politicians that are for taking more rights away from people and poo poo any ideas other than more gun control should be the FIRST to give up armed security..they are no more SPECIAL then the rest of us..

So Wayne LaPierre and the NRA make this their BIG proposal, and you're blaming it on liberals?

lol

Actually, that would be pretty difficult to find out that information due to the Privacy Act.
