Don't ask Bernie.
Ask Trotsky or Trump.
From 1934:

"Introduction from Fourth International

"The campaign against Marxist ideas sponsored by the capitalist witchhunters today aims to implant the false impression that Communism is completely alien to American life and opposed to the welfare of the American people.

"In the Thirties, during the rapid spread of anti-capitalist feelings following the Great Depression, there was considerable popular interest in the prospects of a Communist America.

"On this account the editors of Liberty Magazine turned to Leon Trotsky for a bird’s-eye view of what the Communist future holds for the United States..."

"'At present most Americans regard communism solely in the light of the experience of the Soviet Union.

"'They fear lest Sovietism in America would produce the same material result as it has brought for the culturally backward peoples of the Soviet Union...."

"Actually American soviets will be as different from the Russian soviets as the United States of President Roosevelt differs from the Russian Empire of Czar Nicholas II.

"Yet communism can come in America only through revolution, just as independence and democracy came in America.

"The American temperament is energetic and violent, and it will insist on breaking a good many dishes and upsetting a good many apple carts before communism is firmly established.

"Americans are enthusiasts and sportsmen before they are specialists and statesmen, and it would be contrary to the American tradition to make a major change without choosing sides and cracking heads."

Will Trump upset the capitalists' apple carts?

How many heads will crack before next November?

No. Even so capitalism as we know it is a failure as a sustainable economic system

Wack jobs like McCarthy would tell us the communists are coming the communists are coming.

Actually Wall Street has already been working on doing just that, and they have the full and enthusiastic support of the leadership of both Parties and the Davos Set. They're grooming Red China to be the new world leaders, and Red China is already sending millions of their Cadre families over here. Commies are the world's premiere labor racketeers, and Wall Street has always loved and worshipped labor racketeers. Most of the right wingers here are big fans, too, they're just too stupid to notice they endorse many of the same business practices.

No. Our economic system has raised the world. Without us, the world would still be wondering around in 1878. A state authoritarian system always produces mass killings in the hundreds of millions.

Fuck you, commie.

Capitalism's main problem right now is that so many who think they're defending it are doing such a shitty job.

This pseudo/quasi-libertarianism that has consumed the GOP since the days of Reagan is making capitalism ripe for the picking.

These people really should be receiving Thank You cards from those who want socialism or communism, for the assistance.

Only when socialism succeeds in substituting administrative control for money will it be possible to abandon a stable gold currency. Then money will become ordinary paper slips, like trolley or theater tickets.

There seems to be an abundance of self-interest among the bottom-dwellers currently in control of the US political economy but very little of it qualifies as enlightened, at least in the Henry Ford sense of the word:

Trump, tribalism and the end of American capitalism

"In the early 20th century, carmaker Henry Ford understood that the US economy worked best when you have a thriving middle-class.

"In fact, part of his rationale for raising wages was his implicit understanding that the company needed a middle class consumer base that would buy the Model T vehicles that Ford plants were producing.

"Unfortunately, such enlightened self-interest is rare.

"It's not that business people don't understand this, but they want to have their cake and eat it too.

"In other words, business owners want a prosperous and educated middle class that is neither supported by more robust wages nor redistributive taxation policies."

"Trump's evil genius was to overtly tap into the dark world of racism.

"Racism functions a lot like tribalism in other contexts because it fosters pre-capitalist thinking.

"Rather than voting along class-based lines formed by shared economic interests, both tribalism and racism foster group thinking that cuts across class lines.

"As such, poor white workers are led to believe that they have more in common with their white capitalist bosses than their fellow workers of colour."

Every time you post you show what an ignorant half-witted moron you are.

We've plundered the world for as long as we've been in existence.

American imperialism - Wikipedia

"The Grand Area[edit]

"In an October 1940 report to Franklin Roosevelt, Bowman wrote that 'the US government is interested in any solution anywhere in the world that affects American trade. In a wide sense, commerce is the mother of all wars.'

"In 1942 this economic globalism was articulated as the 'Grand Area' concept in secret documents.

"The US would have to have control over the 'Western Hemisphere, Continental Europe and Mediterranean Basin (excluding Russia), the Pacific Area and the Far East, and the British Empire (excluding Canada).'

"The Grand Area encompassed all known major oil-bearing areas outside the Soviet Union, largely at the behest of corporate partners like the Foreign Oil Committee and the Petroleum Industry War Council.[71]

"The US thus avoided overt territorial acquisition, like that of the British and French empires, as being too costly, choosing the cheaper option of forcing countries to open their door to American capitalism."

Utter bullshit. That's a leftist myth.
