Wikileaks WMD Surprise

I find really desperate by some of our far right loyalist to cry from the hills, "see, there were WMD's".
First of all, everytime the US did a WMD hunt they came up empty with anything that wasn't made prior to 1991.
There is no logical reason that if WMD's made after 1991 were found that the Bush Administration and the Blair Administration wouldn't of been pounding their chests telling the World and America, "we found the WMDs. Let's look at reality here. The fact the there were no WMD's as described in the build up to invading Iraq were found, is an embarrassment to the Bushies and to Blair.
They would of never remained silent, their pride and legacy has been severely damaged by the lack of WMDs. They pushed and pushed to have them found perDavid Kay. It's not like Bush and Blair didn't do everythig they could to find the WMD's.
Finally, in the tidbit referring the Wikileaks within the thread starter, doesn't put any dates as to the era of the weapon componets found. So therefore there seems to be a lot of assumptions made.

The chemistry of a nerve agent doesn't really care who made it. A compound is the same irrespective of who synthesized it.

History is just tough stuff, the true story often gets hidden in revisionist nonsense that goes for history today. Everyone knew he had chemical weapons, one could make them in the kitchen.

Wikileaks Iraq War Diaries
At 5pm EST Friday 22nd October 2010 WikiLeaks released the largest classified military leak in history. The 391,832 reports ('The Iraq War Logs'), document the war and occupation in Iraq, from 1st January 2004 to 31st December 2009 (except for the months of May 2004 and March 2009) as told by soldiers in the United States Army. Each is a 'SIGACT' or Significant Action in the war. They detail events as seen and heard by the US military troops on the ground in Iraq and are the first real glimpse into the secret history of the war that the United States government has been privy to throughout.

The reports detail 109,032 deaths in Iraq, comprised of 66,081 'civilians'; 23,984 'enemy' (those labeled as insurgents); 15,196 'host nation' (Iraqi government forces) and 3,771 'friendly' (coalition forces). The majority of the deaths (66,000, over 60%) of these are civilian deaths.That is 31 civilians dying every day during the six year period. For comparison, the 'Afghan War Diaries', previously released by WikiLeaks, covering the same period, detail the deaths of some 20,000 people. Iraq during the same period, was five times as lethal with equivallent population size.

Not really news. Anyone paying attention knew about the WMDs.

Anti Bush crowd is still denying it or making excuses.

There were, as predicted, left over stockpiles of chemial weapons that were lost after the war with Iran. Anyone paying attention knows that they were not the WMD the Bush administration so adamently claimed were there. Recall the claim that they were producing and stockpiling massive amounts of chemcical and biological weapon. Nothing new was ever found and the small caches of degraded chemicals were found.

Like i said. Trying to make excuses.

That simply isn't true.

It is completely true. Saddam was not a threat to the worlds remaining superpower. All the ordinace ever found was manufactored before 1991 and was not usable.

As I said before, the chemistry of organophophates does not jibe with the claim that what was found were harmless/not viable, etc.

Damn those physical sciences - always getting in the way of politics.

No one ever claimed the chemicals found in the old weapons were harmless. In fact they were probably more dangerous to handle. But as weapons they were useless.

The claim was that Iraq was producing and stockpiling new weapons, not hoarding old ones.......It was a lie.

Yes so pay attention.

Not excuses, just not going to let the lying pseudo-cons try and claim that the Bush Administration didn't lie. Or that the culpable media is covering it up the WMD found in Iraq. The Bush administration's claim (among others) was that Iraq was producing and stockpiling Chemical/Biological weapons. Yet not one on this list fits that bill. Not one.

I surely remember Faux News claiming every other day that they had finally found the WMD in Iraq, only to be debunked a few day later.......

Sad really.
