WikiLeaks reveals that Arab allies urged U.S. to strike Iran

Leakage: America betrayed its friends

I can’t stop wondering about America’s efforts to put a brave face on a sorry business. The American authorities are talking a lot about the threat on the part of WikiLeaks, but they don’t tell anyone about the causes of those numerous leakages. Maybe I know where the problem is? It’s no wonder that America’s security slithered from the high level into the abyss and the American authorities can’t do anything to prevent their dirty secrets leakage. But we are talking not only about the US, but about its attitude towards its friends, now maybe former friends. Hypocrisy of the American policy replenished with the secrets leakage will bring America down to earth. Here in Europe we are very disappointed by America, especially after the last leakage. In fact it was absolute and uncovered impudence! So, there is no more vaunted security and universal allow ability after the secrets flood in America. Of course America feels sorry for the leakage, but not for the contents. Something is telling me that it wasn’t the last informational cataclysm in the US. If America can’t keep its own secrets, there are no guarantees that everyone who is involved in the relationship with the US will be safe. And now America is hunting down Assange...

The regular Arabs on the street think that US and Israel are their biggest threats but their governments are thinking otherwise, if they believed that they would not be trying to make a deal for US and Israel to strike Irans nuclear facilities.

They could play it off as "The enemy of my enemy is my freind". And claim they were getting infedels killed by using The Great Satan. And as soon as they are re-elected, or the hoopla has died down, put out thier hands for more of our money.

The situation in the Arab world is very strange, the regular Arabs on the street seem to hate Americans with a passion but their government love doing business with us. In Iran, the government hates America but alot of Persians love America and want to come here, the biggest population of Iranians outside of Iran is in California.

California?!

How weird is that?

People that grow up and live in a strict religious society go to a state that's the least strict in the country.

Maybe they are planning a mass suicide bombing along the fault line. [muhaha]

Last I heard, late last night was that Interpol was looking for him. Something about rape.

and if you look up espionage, Assange is guilty of that. So yes, we should be out enforcing the laws.

And if you think any country is pure of heart about politics, your deluded.

Well alot of the Iranians that live in California are political exiles who had to leave after the fall of the Shah and alot of Iranian Jews went to Cali as well, not alot of these Iranians that left Iran were that religious to start with.

Fact is - -the plan is for the US to have permanent bases in the middle east and obviously the best spots are where the biggest trouble makers reside. The Global economy requires a stable supply of oil and profits for the nations in that region.
Between 77% and 80% of all Arabs living in the Middle East regard the US and Israel as the biggest "trouble makers."

"The Brookings Institute just a few months ago released extensive polls of what Arabs think about Iran. The results are rather striking.

"They show the Arab opinion holds that the major threat in the region is Israel- that’s 80.

"The second major threat is the United States- that’s 77.

"Iran is listed as a threat by 10%.

"With regard to nuclear weapons, rather remarkably, a majority- in fact, 57–say that the region would have a positive effect in the region if Iran had nuclear weapons."

Would you agree with Noam when he says "latest polls show Arab opinion holds that the major threat in the region is Israel, that's 80 percent; the second threat is the United States, that's 77 percent.

"Iran is listed as a threat by 10 percent," Chomsky says.

"This may not be reported in the newspapers, but it's certainly familiar to the Israeli and U.S. governments and the ambassadors.

"What this reveals is the profound hatred for democracy on the part of our political leadership."

Can't read through all that. But his latest poll seems to be more his opinion, b/c there is no link to this poll he speaks of.

And, was he talking about American leadership hating democracy or somewhere else?

Keep in mind Arab governments range from sham democracies like Mubarak's Egypt to theocratic dictatorships like Saudi Arabia's.

Even if 80% to 90% of their populations oppose a US/Israeli strike on Iran, it isn't likely to affect the governments ability to survive.

You might also want to consider the possibility that for thousands of years before anyone coined the word "socialism" ALL governments functioned to socialize cost and privatize profits.

None have ever done it better than the USA.

I been thinking and thinking; Why oh why don't THEY work together and go to war with Iran themselves?
If you had a choice....to fight someone, yourself....or, get some testosterone-driven nutjob, who thinks he's the Second Coming o' John Wayne, to do the job....what would you do????

George Bush pretty-much bought-INTO the stereotype the World has of us...that we're ALWAYS itchin'-for-a-fight. He could always afford to (in the past)....'cause his Daddy always bailed-his-ass-OUT, when he got in, over-his-head.

The rest-o'-the-World is gonna have to give us another 20 years.....before we have a whole NEW Generation o' young-people, that Corporate America can convince we need to go-to-War....again.

You might want to read the link.

They asked obama to declare war, not Bush.
Uh.....yeah....that would be a safe-assumption.

Your point?

goodlord

This is not a partisan thread. This is politics b/c it's world politics.

My point is, don't be a partisan hack and face the fact that they were talking to obama, not some cowboy, john Wayne type.

They want America to do it because Iran would crush their Militaries if the Arabs tried to do anything to Iran.

Could be. But isn't it like 5+ to one? Seems like they could easily win, especially if they could work with Israel. [ok, that's a pipe dream] Attack at the same time as Israel.

The Arabs would never work with Israel plus the Militaries of those Arab countries are a joke, Iraq was the toughest conventional Arab Military in the Middle East and look what the US did to them. Israel is the toughest Military in that region hands down.
I'm sure Custer made the same assumption....you know, with his state-o'-the-art weapons.

Really? which Middle Eastern country has a better Military than Israel? Egypt? Jordan? Syria? Kuwait? don't make me laugh.

hmm, true. The arabs haven't fought in a war in a long time [excluding the terrorist], but still the numbers would have to be on thier side.

Or let Isreal know they have the green light to do it themleves?

The Arab armies have not fought in a conventional war in a long time, the only people that have are the terrorists in cowardly sneak attacks and suicide bombings.
Yeah.....why can't they fight like gentlemen, huh??

February 12, 2006

"We're lucky that, for the time being anyway, we're fighting Iraq and not Iran because Iran is four times as big as Iraq and we're having enough trouble with the little country."

:clap2:

Ahhh, yes...Andy Rooney, noted military strategist.

Moron.
Yeah....he was certainly no George Bush......

there is a disconnect between governments which are forced to concern themselves with a more real world and those constituents of these nations which are availed the right to deride their neighboring nations and consume conspiracies. this is particularly true of non-democracies like those in the mid-east, where no mechanism is availed to align leadership and citizens.

the US is of course not exempted. people like lonestar_logic could advocate bombing iran and letting god sort them out, if even tongue in cheek, but that is not the official position of our government. the extent which a popular sentiment like that can affect actual policy is marginal despite our democracy.

in the end, the least significant opinions from the most ignorant, arrogant and insular players in this discussion are those of arab citizens.

We could bomb Iran back into the bronze age in 2 months.

yyeeaahh

But!

We would have to listen to people whine and cry about all those "innocent civilians".

They keep many of the military supplies and bases 'in' civilian areas, so we can't avoid killing bystaders.
What we need to do, is mind our OWN fuckin' business!!!!!

He's a troll.

He's comparing the hit and run tactics we used during the Revolution to todays terrorist.

Ignoring the fact that we went after military targets and thier suppliers and that terrorist kill children in open markets.

Getting a seroius conversation outta him is like getting blood from a stone.
