My wife is really really pushing for a puppy. We currently have an older cat who is about 10 years old. The cat gets spoked very easily.

I am very much afraid that the puppy being naturally curious and playful will chase the cat. The cat, George, will get terrorized.

George was here first.

I would love a puppy too, but not at the expense of terrorizing George.

What do you all think?

Shock collar will work like a charm.

If the cat lays claw on the puppy's nose it will get the idea quickly.

I think George will set the boundaries...

Yep after a couple of bloody puppy noses things will gradually even out.
At least that is the usual outcome.
As to whether the pupply and cat become friends, that depends on the cat and puppy.

I am more worried about George than the dog...
