Why would anyone from South Carolina actually vote for this guy?

It's impossible to understand why a liberal would vote for Al Green the first time, much less vote for him a second time coming up, which they'll do, after finding out about him.

It's a failed effort to attempt to fathom the mental process of the modern liberal mind. Sane minds cannot understand the decision process of an insane mind. That is what seperates insanity from sanity, the ability to rationalize irrational actions.

That is why bipartisanship will not work. The liberal mind rationalizes irrational actions and thus cannot be compromised with.

Prove he won because he was black

I'm just going with what happen with obama . Or do you disagree that 95% of black voter voted for obama?

I don't think Greene won because he was black. Nobody even knew who he was, let alone what he looked like.

Thats just it they did not have to know anything about him they went with looks, or the color of his skin. Remember I am talking about the black voters.

it is not clear anyone knew his race...just a name on the ballot

The first name

sc is just an odd place...look at their politics....just plain odd...i remember when christians were flocking to sc to make it the beginning of a christian strong hold..etc....

They may be odd....but there must have been some poll to idicate voters were going to swing to Greene

There was no indication that voters were even considering him and then he wins by a landslide

Also nobody in post election polling seems to indicate they voted for him

So is it your contention that the polls matter?

APNewsBreak: Records show Greene's military flops - Yahoo! News

From Alvin Greenes Military Record

In a performance report two years later, Greene received adequate marks for performing tasks assigned to him, complying with standards and training requirements. But Greene's reviewer marked him as an ineffective leader who lacked organization and was "unable to express thoughts clearly."

Greene is "usually capable of handling mundane tasks with supervision" but is "not able to adapt to any changes to daily routine," the reviewer wrote, also noting that Greene had received multiple disciplinary actions for failing to perform his duties.

Greene was also written up for posting sensitive information on a military Internet server, a mistake that resulted in a three-day work stoppage. Records showed Greene was kept at Shaw while the rest of his unit deployed after leadership "recognized his inability to contribute to the wartime mission."

A year later, Greene was evaluated again, this time in his new job as an analyst working with the weapons of mass destruction section. But Greene's job had little to do with intelligence analysis and more to do with shredding documents and escorting contractors around the base.

Again receiving low marks for ineffective leadership, Greene also was rated as not knowing much about his duties or performing them effectively and not complying with minimum training requirements.

The reviewer also wrote Greene "required a daily to-do list" to perform basic duties and had a "consistent inability to follow instructions or maintain basic job knowledge." Most seriously, the reviewer wrote that Greene would represent "a threat to others" because of his inability to grasp the basics of military training.

This thing gets stranger and stranger....how could he win a primary he didn't campaign in by a landslide?

Anyone from the south? What are you implying? LOL

He won because Democrats vote like Robots and simply check a name with a D in front of it. Especially in small time primaries :)

He was obviously a phony plant designed to hand the race to the GOP.

Americans are so funny. They think elections cannot be rigged in their country.

Most of them grew up inside rigid Cold War propaganda, drugged by scare stories about the evil empire. They believe that elections are stolen in places like Russia, but never the U.S.

If the brother-leader of a candidate in Russia subtracted 1,622 votes* from the opposition right before the election numbers were frozen ... we would all know exactly what happened. There would be no question.

Elections are rigged everywhere, including the United States of America. You are no better than the rest of us.

Alvin Greene is proof that the GOP is too powerful for their own good. They are getting sloppy. And why not? -movement liberalism has been dead since Nixon's landslide victory over McGovern, i.e., the opposition has been dead for a long, long time. Carter started deregulation, Clinton left Labor for big business, and Obama is a corporatist, feeding the poor into overpriced insurance, i.e., there is no left. Claims that the liberals secretly control your institutional fabric are less subtle than Orwell's use of Emmanuel Goldstein. It was scary when McCarthy did it, and tragic when Nixon did it (see "Liberal Jewish Media"), but now it just seems tired and sad.

It would appear that is a possibility. I just don't understand the mechanism. There were no statistical anamolies meaning every district would have to be rigged. Each district has to keep sealed records of vote tallies before they are sent in.

The Republicans couldn't have flooded the Democratic Primary without some grass roots get out the vote for Greene. It does not appear anyone was supporting Greene before the election

Yet his whole candidacy appears suspect. Why would someone who is unemployed put up $10,000 of their money on the chance they could be Senator?

He had no literature....he had no town meetings, no web site he didnt even call anyone. No ONE knew who he was...NO ONE..

Yet somehow black voters knew who he was? Dude, I see something with you on this one. Seriously.

NO ONE KNEW WHO HE WAS, HE WAS A NAME ON A BALLET. I am black and I didnt know who he was but somehow all the other blacks knew him.

Wow.
