Why would anyone be surprised if 50% of Americans have a "Preexisting Condition"?

Domestic violence as pre-existing condition? 8 states still allow it | McClatchy

WASHINGTON -- Eight states and the District of Columbia don't have laws that specifically bar insurance companies from using domestic violence as a pre-existing condition to deny health coverage, according to a study from the National Women's Law Center.

Pregnant without health coverage - iVillage

Pregnancy complicates health insurance options. Federal law bars pregnancy from being considered a preexisting condition, which means if you change health plans while you're pregnant, your new insurer can't deny claims related to your pregnancy. But a variety of loopholes means pregnant women could still lack insurance coverage for their prenatal care if they don't do some careful planning.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of "buts" to HIPAA. For one thing, HIPAA doesn't apply to someone who previously had no health coverage at all and then gets into a group health plan through a new job. So if you had no insurance, got pregnant, then landed a new job with insurance, your new health plan would not have to immediately cover your pregnancy. You might have to sit out a preexisting condition waiting period, a period that could be longer than your pregnancy and in the meantime pay for your visits yourself.
Second, HIPAA applies only to group health plans. So if you have individual insurance and are pregnant, then buy group health insurance, you again could be subject to a preexisting condition waiting period. Likewise, if you move from one individual health plan to another individual health plan, you might not get pregnancy coverage at all. You might have to sit out a waiting period, or if you are offered insurance that covers your pregnancy, you might find it's very expensive.

Think about the number of Americans with the following conditions alone:

Cancer, Diabetes, Asthma, Heart Problems, Kidney Problems, Lung Problems, and the big one (no pun intended) Obesity. At this point, should be surprised that only 50% of Americans would be classified with a "preexisting condition."

It's even worse than that. Suppose you have "family coverage" and dad get's cancer. Because junior has "acne", the entire family could be dropped.

This is what Republicans want to go back to, so they can protect insurance companies who are only middle men whose entire income is skimming money off the insurance policies of millions of middle class Americans.

Hilarious is many, if not most Republicans, don't even had health care.

i just love pregnancy being a pre-existing condition.

but insurance companies are our friends. :cuckoo:

And the only reason why it isn't used as a pre-existing condition more often is because of a federal law.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...study-claims-million-pre-existing-conditions/

You're talking about the lowest number possible of the study between 50 million and 129 million Americans. You seem to think it's 50 million at the most. Nothing is being contradicted here.

The Department of Health and Human Services study, released Tuesday, concludes that somewhere between 50 million and 129 million non-elderly Americans have a pre-existing condition -- the kind of condition insurance companies can use to deny coverage. The study further found that 15-30 percent of people in good health are likely to develop such a condition within eight years.

Dementia is listed. Some say half the country are Republicans. There you go.

If you Liberals were so worried about "pre existing conditions" like you say then why didn't you just pass a law banning that practice when you had both the House and Senate?

Because you wanted complete control over Health Care that's why. Shit, you fuckers didn't even read the bill you passed, (excuse me, DEEMED!)

Well looks like they did. :eusa_whistle:

Seriously though, your post makes absolutely no sense and adds nothing to the discussion. The overall healthcare option that Liberals wanted was taken out of the discussion pretty quickly. Getting rid of something such as "pre-existing conditions" is something all Americans should be able to get behind. Not just Liberals or Conservatives.

I am talking about HHS releasing a blatant piece of propaganda and you posting it like it is fact.

New report: 129 million Americans with a pre-existing condition could be denied coverage without new health reform law

When their own studies show that the number of people who are actually denied coverage is actually about 1% of the population.

Please, feel free to keep being a mouthpiece for the government, it keeps your credibility where I can ignore it. Or, if you actually want to think for yourself, you could do some rudimentary research and point out when people do things like this yourself.

My guess is that you prefer being a member of the young partisan hacks. If so, my advice to you is not to challenge me on the numbers ever again.

Good point, that does prove the other half of the country is in need of psychiatric treatment.

No, I understand the entire bill includes that provision. But you control freaks wanted control over 1/6 of our economy and passed (excuse me DEEMED) ObamaCare. You couldn't just pass that provision could you? I mean, why fuck the people a little when you can fuck em alot right?

You overreached and is what led to the massive ass whuppin' you took in the mid terms.

You gonna' read what I wrote or just imagine something different. Just wondering.

Well you're not acting very rationally. This bill doesn't give control over 1/6 of our economy to anyone for starters. Another thing, turns out (get this) that pre-existing conditions isn't the only thing wrong with our healthcare system.

I know this may come as a shock to you. I hope you're sitting as you read thisl.

Any reason he shouldn't be acting irrational when you refuse to address the points that prove the entire story is based on a false assumption?
