Why wasn't Trump allowed a Supreme Court decision to have Bolton,et.al. testify?

From CNN's biased presentation of the Articles of Impeachment and the below comment proves once again how the biased MSM continues to try to influence the public against Trump!!!

Although neither Richard Nixon nor Bill Clinton blocked all cooperation as Trump has, neither of them were exactly cooperative.
It took a Supreme Court decision for Nixon to turn over Oval Office tapes, and then he turned them over to a special prosecutor and not Congress.

CNN says Trump would have asked for SCOTUS to determine if Bolton,et.al. could testify.
Why wouldn't the Democrats allow that?

Not sure you understand what happened, your thread question is somewhat misleading. The House did not subpoena Bolton or anyone else, they asked but Trump said NO. Had they issued subpoenas then Trump could have cited executive privilege and the Dems could have appealed that to the courts. Which probably would have been appealed by the losing side, all the way up to the SCOTUS, and all of that takes time that the Dems did not want to waste because of course Trump was a danger to our democracy, a threat to our national security, and also our free and fair elections were at risk. [insert sarcasm emoji]

There is some question as to what happens during the Senate trial if the Senate votes to hear Bolton, Mulvaney, or anyone else testify and Trump cites executive privilege. We are setting some new precedents here, with possibly significant future ramifications.

They also had an executive privilege case working through the courts already, on whit house council, Don McGhan sp? It had been 9 months working through the courts, up to the appellate court has ruled in Congress' s favor, now the WH is asking the SC to hear it.

In Nixon impeachment inquiry/investigation, it only took about 3 weeks for the SC to get and rule that Nixon did NOT have executive privilege with his tapes....

9 months and still not to the SC yet on McGhan seems like justice delayed, is justice denied thingy....to me, that's just stall tactics that prevent justice..... tying things up in the courts.

Most of the new information since the impeachment vote, has been handed to them, not things they were seeking or rather, expecting to receive...... the trove of emails were subpoenaed but the Whitehouse denied, were gotten thru some watchdog who did a FOIA for them....

Parnas went to the courts to get the Souther District NY to release his emails from their subpoena custody....

These things with troves of documentary evidence, were unforseen.
