The altruism is not spending more than you can afford. Adjust the mix based on circumstances. i.e...stop borrowing money.

That pie chart illustrates why rooting out fraud from Medicare,Medicaid and Social Security is critical. I am sure we could find 6% out of the 60% that is waste or fraud. Then we could actually start paying down the national debt not just paying the interest on the debt.
