While your MIL was ill and living with relatives was she drawing Social Security? Did she have Medicare?

She had Social security but my FIL was a good provider ( not rich by any means) and had enough saved without social security .. He worked for Met life and had life insurance plus retired from the coast guard they lived while alive well below their means and scrimped and saved for that retirement. About the medicare she had Medicare and Tricare so she would had had Tricare if medicare was not available. Hubby is following in his fathers foot steps and we are prepared when he retires and wont depend on Social security
because honestly think it wont be available for us or will be cut way back. Social security was not designed for you to just rely on that. It was to help that you should have saved so you can live comfortably but now people dont save for their retirements and rely on just social security

How is that triple dipping. He served 20 years in the CS. He put money towards his SS and he had MET LIFE that he paid for and he died prior to MIL so she got his life insurance. I never said he didn't! I said he chose a good path with a fair contract, was paid what he was worth, and retired with a 'nice pension'. It was a compliment.

The trick is to get the company you work for to write you a fair labor contract. Can I help it if We, The People of The USA are a decent company of Momma's little bastards to work for?

I heard this earlier on TV news ... The house was paid for but the various banks and mortgage companies that have passed it around cannot find the paperwork.

So people are allowed to steal because they are old?

So, without knowing the facts, you would throw an 83 year old and a 104 year old woman out on the street. In winter. At Christmas. No place else to go. You really believe that this situation has only one possible ending?

Mean for no other reason than to be mean. That's why I hate pubs/baggers too.

Hall said the problem began years ago. Her house was paid for but at some point a family member took out a second mortgage and then never paid the bills on the home. There have been court battles, and a judge finally ordered the eviction. But now, the threat is over.

I really think both parties think they're helping. I also think both parties are killing us. The divide since Reagan is really bad. From Reagan, things got way worse. The righteous Christian right emerged. My dad and my granddad were great Christian men, but I think even they would question the Republican party NOW. They both loved pensions and social security and mid century health insurance despite Roosevelt.

But, the Roosevelt Democrats have ALWAYS wanted to keep the lazy from producing but still living well, right!

The story says the loan was serviced by Chase bank. That's who is attempting to kick her to the curb for not paying her mortgage.

Oh! and by the way, the chairman of JP Morgan Chase, the greedy, selfish bankers that are trying to kick the old lady to the curb, Jamie Dimon, and his wife, have contributed more than a half a million dollars since 1989 to.......wait for it.........................................................................DEMORATS!!!!!!

What an arbitrary age to stop working. I will never understand the concept of retirement. Why at some age people feel they are entitled to just stop contributing and start mooching off others.
