Why Republicans Piss Me Off

Old. Are you fucking kidding me!? 103 isn't old. 103 is beyond elderly. You think somebody who is 103 is capable of 'pulling their weight?'

You just made the OP's point.

Why do you think people are incompetant simply because they are older?

There are tons of great things elderly people can do to contribute to society.

Yeah, but should we have to? :dunno:

Well, here's a story. A woman who DOES NOT pay her mortgage! Hey, it's only RIGHT to throw her out!

Thank the good Lord above that everybody is NOT a hardcore Repub.

U.S. News - Deputies refuse to evict 103-year-old woman

Republican money folks would throw out this woman.

But hey, NO WELFARE! Greet at Walmart, old woman. Earn your keep!
What makes you assume that the bankers are Republicans and not Democrats?

If you are a thinking breathing person then yes you should have to.

the story seems to be that she was the victim of a fraud perpetrated by a relative against the bank. The bank failed to do due diligence on the mortgage, so that means the bank is out the money.

This is not a Republican/Democrat issue, this is a fraud issue. The person who made the fraudulent loan needs to spend a long time in the Graybar Hotel, the bank deserves to loose their money on this for failure to comply with the law on due diligence.

I would think most of us on the Republican side fully oppose the concept of the innocent victim of a fraud having to pay for criminality of one person and the stupidity and incompetence of the bank.

I still want to know if they're going to just kill everyone over a certain age. If they are indigent, and SSI is going to be done away with - how do those advocating such actions intend to care for the poor, the infirm and the elderly?
What happened prior to SS. The families took care of the elderly .. I will take care of my Mom if it comes down to that. That is what is wrong with this country they expect the government to care for everything .. When my MIL was ill my husband two sisters took care of her until her passing. They never went into a home

While your MIL was ill and living with relatives was she drawing Social Security? Did she have Medicare?

Did it help?

As we would. But unfortunately, the issue isn't the story.

The issue is that there are those who think that simply because you are a certain age, you should be exempt from laws, morality, and any sort of social obligation and or you are incapable.

Both of which are untrue.

A point not unnoticed... the article doesn't make it a L/R issue.

No one is saying that... people are frustrated because the system doesn't work.

How did she end up with a mortgage at 104?

How long has she been in foreclosure?

How is it the community did not get involved before the sheriff showed up with a moving truck?

This story REEKS of :wtf:

She had Social security but my FIL was a good provider ( not rich by any means) and had enough saved without social security .. He worked for Met life and had life insurance plus retired from the coast guard they lived while alive well below their means and scrimped and saved for that retirement. About the medicare she had Medicare and Tricare so she would had had Tricare if medicare was not available. Hubby is following in his fathers foot steps and we are prepared when he retires and wont depend on Social security
because honestly think it wont be available for us or will be cut way back. Social security was not designed for you to just rely on that. It was to help that you should have saved so you can live comfortably but now people dont save for their retirements and rely on just social security

If the pubs&bags get their way, yes. And, from this thread, I'd say some of them are thinking about Soylent Green.

And these "tons of great things elderly people can do to contribute to society" ... Just what would you have them do? Work for McDonald's?

Seriously, to say that 86 and 103 year old women should get off their lazy butts, get out there and get a job is ludicrous. I've got news for you, cold blooded reptiles like Newt. There are not enough jobs for skilled 35 year olds.

Is this what our society has come to?

Would we really make these two women homeless as punishment for a crime committed against them?

Military pension... Nice!

Kind of my point.

I'm sure any SS funds were sent back because to keep and use money you paid into would be socialism as pubs/bags understand it.

Triple dipper ...

Yep, he sent his SS back. To do otherwise would be socialism.

LOL

That's not the question.

The question is "Would we really make these two women homeless as punishment for a crime committed by them?

Not fulfilling the payment obligation of a signed contract is a crime in this country.

:dunno: What would Jesus do?

To think that 103 year olds have nothing to contribute at all to society merely because of their age is ridiculous. They have far more wisdom then most people alive.
