Why Republicans Can't Win

Obama will win easily. Just look at NY-9. There was simply NO FUCKING WAY that a republican was going to win that seat. Teddy Kennedy's senate seat was a LOCK for Dems too.

Yep, Obama is going to cruise to an easy victory ......

she really doesnt offer much but insults and childish gaggling up with other cons

It's far too early to say whether Obama is in trobule or not. The biggest factor in this is the economy. ploitical scientists will tell you the one crucial factor in whether presidents get re-elected is the performance of the economy in the runup to the election. So the chances are we're either in a recession or a seriously low growth period with, most importantly, no change in the unemployment rate. Somebody like Romney could easily win against Obama in a situation like that. Obama's only real chance would be the election of somebody like Perry who doubles down on his Social Security is a Ponzi scheme thing or somebody even nutjobbier than Perry.

My question to Republicans is, do you really think somebody like Romney will really be much different to an Obama second term? What will they do differently that will make much difference to what Obama would do?

If they Run Romeny they will get a tea party candidate running third party.

No hope for the Rs

Obama's approval rating is misleading. The economy is bad. People are anxious. Any president's approval rating would be bad in this environment.

The Republicans can't run an "unnamed opponent". If they could figure a way to do this, they would, but they can't. Whichever candidate they nominate is already trailing Obama. RCP: vs. Perry + 8.2%; vs. Romney + 3%; Bachman + 14.5%.

The Republican party is dominated by right-wing nut jobs, whose ideology offends most Americans. Examples: booing soldiers for being gay, cheering the idea of letting uninsured people die, etc.

Most of the Republican field is unelectable. If they nominate one of their unelectabes, their chances of beating Obama become negligible.

The Republicans have no plan for improving the economy.

House Republicans are hell bent on proving how dangerous it is to elect Republicans, and how little they actually care about governing.

And here we see the self-deception of the Democrats. Obama has had 3 years to fix things. Instead he has made everything worse. The public knows this, which is why his approval rating is in the tank.
So the Left's explanation is Obama must get elected again because the American people (read: the left and their friends) would never elect a batshit crazy rightwinger like Perry.
This election is 1980 all over again. We have a hapless, hopeless, incompetent president with a lousy record vs a popular governor (take your pick which one, but it'll be Perry) whom the media labels as "too conservative to get elected." We know how that turned out.

Look at the states Obama carried in 2008. Among them are Ohio (only 40% think he ought to be re-elected), Michigan (60% rate Obama fair or poor), Florida (57% disapproval),and Pennsylvania (58% disapproval rating). There is no way he is carrying those states again.
The Dums are whistling past the graveyard on this. Reminds me of Nancy Pelosi's promise to reps that Americans would love the new healthcare entitlement and re-elect them all.

I like your confidence. Kennedy's seat was just the entire state of DEEP BLUE democratic stronghold Massachusetts voting, but that was just a fluke. Kennedy really wasn't too popular in Massachusetts.

Same with Brooklyn and Queens. The last time a Republican won NY9 was in the 1920's, but this was all about the jews. This last election proved one thing- that a lot more JEWS have moved there since the 1920's!! Jews vote Republican, right?

Yep, you have some real confidence!! Some call it delusional, but we both know it's just your vacuous stupidity. You go girl!!

Scott Brown won that election largely because his opponent sucked wind. Next year there is a very good chance he will lose it. Also, it's worth pointing out that Brown is far from a right-wing Tea Party candidate; he's a moderate Republican, which is the only kind that can win statewide election in Massachusetts. In terms of policy, he and Obama aren't that far apart. He's considered a RINO by a lot of you, but if he weren't, he'd have lost no matter how badly his opponent sucked (and she did).

That said, he's probably going to lose anyway.

You not win without massive cheating.

If the American people get to deside there will be no republican president next elections end

Wow, now this is why I shouldn't take a week off.

The problem is, they have no "unelectables" vs. Obama. Obama is so reviled by everyone at this point that even Bachmann could beat him.

No is going to care about gay soldiers or irresponsible people who don't buy insurance. They are going to care about 1) Their own job security and 2) Their own investments and finances. If those still look as bad a year from now as they do today, Obama's done.

While I do think Obama is on shaky ground...and that there is a personal vilification of the man that knows few bounds...I also think that there's no clear Republican plan for independents to get behind...and people would rather vote for an incumbent president.
