NY City's Emperor Bloomberg, the man who scoffed at the law that limited him to serving only 2 terms as Mayor, thinks its time to continue his Progressive Jihad against smokers and now wants to ban smoking in Times Square and at City Beaches.

It's for your own good, ya know.

The Progressives Obama Administration wants to control the appliances you can buy. Why? Because, it's for your own good.

A little known fact of the American Revolution is that Our Founding Fathers fought the British to have a central government that would control the type of wood, nails, and drapes you could have in your house, the proper flow rate of water drawn from a well, what type of shoes your horses could wear, and how far a horse could go between meals.

Always strikes me as odd that the right wing, who want to control your life through marriage, birth control, education, turn the argument around when it comes to having respect for other people's health concern. Interfering in your freedoms is fine so long as they draw the guidelines.

"..."the content of a liberal political conception of justice is given by three main features:

1. a specification of basic rights, liberties and opportunities (of a kind familiar from constitutional democratic regimes);

2. an assignment of special priority to those rights, liberties and opportunities, especially with respect of claims of the general good and perfectionist values; and

3. measures assuring to all citizens adequate all-purpose means to make effective use of their liberties and opportunities.

These [three] elements can be understood in different ways, so that there are many variant liberalisms.""

"First, to believe in the equality and priority of basic personal and political liberties; to be skeptical as a corollary about paternalism, moralism, and perfectionism; to embrace an ideal of equality of opportunity and an assurance of adequate resources for all: these mark out a distinctive family of political views. Those three points are not common ground that we political liberals share with fascists; communitarians; traditionalists of various kinds; Stalinists; suffocating, oxygen-depleting moralists [CrusaderFrank]; believers in a confessional state (whatever the confession); or adherents to anti-state, anarchist libertarianism. We may be dull, but we are dull from our own distinctive principles."

If any ConJob who is a member of this board, bitches about Health Care but remain on MediCare, then I have news for you. You are part of U.S. Government Funded, Tax Payer Supported Universal Health Care Plan.

IF and this is a very big IF you are so damn opposed to such health care, then put your fucking health care where your fucking mouth is and drop MediCare.

If you do not, your a hypocrite.

I sincerely don't give a single fuck about you or how you live your life. I gave examples of the Progressive Jihad on Freedom and what do you post in reply? Just an adhom attack against me because you have no answer to the facts I've presented.

Marriage, child birth, education and religion have all been around for thousands of years and only became an issue when Progressives wanted to knock the props out from under Western Civilization.

1. I'm not on Medicare, ahole. Like SocSec, I've been paying in my whole life, haven;t used a nickel of it and have no doubt whasoever that I won't be able to count on it when I'm rightfully entitled to.

2. Obama has already cut $500B from Medicare

3. ObamaCare needs to be declared unconstitutional and repealed.

4. Something along the line of the Whole Foods Suggestion should replace ObamaCare.

What fucking business is it of Government's anyway? What RIGHT do they have to mandate people have a plan -or else-?

Healthcare is a personal responsibility-PERIOD.

Some people need the Government to run their lives. Unfortunately so many Americans are completely incapable of running their own lives. We are rapidly becoming a Third World Police State. It's just very sad that so many are so willing to just give all their Freedom away. Each day the Government takes more of our Freedom & Liberty away. So what kind of future can we expect for our nation? I see Bloomberg as nothing more than a cheezy power-mad little Nazi. The people of New York seem to be going along though. Most people in Germany did the same thing in allowing the Nazis to rise to power. They just chose to conveniently ignore what was going on. I see this same thing happening in this country.

Most people are just too busy being obsessed with their porn, celebrity gossip, and sports to care about what is really going on. They're just giving more & more of their rights away each day. Hopefully the Socialists/Progressives will get the boot in November. But i'm not sure it will matter much though. So much damage has already been done. You can't get the rights back that you already lost. As you can see,i'm not too optimistic on this stuff. Most of the American People seem to want the coming Third World Police State. There is no helping these people. It really is sad.

The business is that your smoke is affecting other people. You are free to smoke in your own private space. Smoking in public space used by others can be controlled

And that shithead Bloomberg and the rest of the Nazi's on that city council have banned transfats...

It's a fucking Statist trend against liberty MORON.

NYC bans trans fats in restaurants

And I'm quite sure that the traffic in that city do more to damage the fucking air than someone with a cigar or cigarette.

People as you are too fucking stupid for your own good. it's nanny State horseshit.

It always amazes me that the left wing, who wants people to be free to marry anyone they choose, has no problem with the government telling them what car to drive and when.

Please, keep posting strawmen and making yourself look even dumber than you are.

I am not on Meidicare or Maicaid, so fuck you and your self righteous idiocy. Would you like to issue another challenge to me and make yourself look even dumber?

You being in a public space affects my health because you use up oxygen, which I need to survive, and spew out carbon dioxide, which is fatal to me, and others. As a matter of fact, it is more dangerous than cigarette smoke. Can I pass a law to keep you from doing either, or both, in public?

Before you start assuming anything about me and making a fool of yourself, I do not smoke, and never have. I would love, on a personal and selfish level, to see cigarettes totally banned so I would never have to smell the foul things again. That said, I know that my freedom demands that I support the rights of others who I find offensive, which includes those who smoke. If more people understood this we would not have to worry so much about the idiots who want to take away our freedoms.

You are on the side of the tyrants here.

No.....the tyrants were the ones who insisted on spewing their smoke wherever and whenever they felt like it

The tyrants were the ones who diid not care if people around them had had respiratory problems, did not care if they made other peoples clothes and hair reek of cigarette smoke, did not care if others had to pick up their discarded butts

Like I said, you exhale carbon dioxide, which is not only more fatal to my existence than cigarette smoke, it is also a greenhouse gas that affects the entire planet and the environment. If you can regulate one in the name of health, I can certainly make a stronger argument against the other in the name of health and the survival of the entire ecosystem.

One man's freedom ends when it infringes on the freedom of another. You should have the freedom to smoke, but should not have the freedom to pollute the air I breath. When you make choices in your life that threaten the safety and well being of others, then it is property that government limit your choices. As populations grow and we live ever closer together our individual freedoms will decrease. There is no way to avoid it.
